I cant believe it!Bloody pseudo delhiiites...dont understand a thing abt football. But crowding places like hell. Hope we get to see the game at a nice place. Be it buzz or geoffreys or kake da hotel! I dont care....fingers crossed the jinx of the blog doesnt strike again!
I guess ppl with superior IQs are quicker...so you hear it from them first...but it seems both the blogs got uploaded at the same time:-)

Plans for tonight

Pplz...have booked a table for 7 at Geoffery's. Tried Pebble Street as well, they're showing the match, have two big screens but couldn't confirm our reservation as they are over booked already...but unlike Buzz this manager said they'll allow entry.

Geoffery's has two big screens, 3 TV screens and they won't play any music during the match(that's what I was told by the manager...have requested some people with superior IQs to check again as they feel I won't know the diff b/w big screen and TV screen!!). Hope the venue is ok with all.

Newaz..this was just to confirm the plan..hope everyone's coming. Anubhav i'll just check with gullu babes if she's comin or not.... you just might have the special privilege of enjoying our company(Gullu & mine:-) on your way to Del.
See u all in the eve..adios!

Ranikhet as an option

Since we are on the topic of weekend getaway with every1 bored at work,W-Day approaching for the 1st couple and uncle going semi NRI....I just did thoda inquiring around office and a bit of googling on where we could go....Ranikhet seems to be a good place...its about 9 hrs drive from delhi and the round trip will be some 850 kms....Laluji is also on our side as there is a train that leaves at 10 pm and reaches at 6 am....the fare for 3A is 390 one way....for the boarding and lodging....there are lots of options...starting from 4000 for three rooms to 5200 for a duplex suite to 1400 per room, depending upon the luxury we need or the money we want to spend ;)....Lots of places to go around Ranikhet like Sheetlakhet, Chaubatia gardens, Jageshwar, Almora etc....can we have some tghts on this from every1....12-15th Aug could be a good option....as we'll need just 1 day's chutti...and its mid of the mth so the "sailu" junta can get off too....

Coming back to the present....sorry 1st couple could not meet u guys yest as we were out with the family....but tonite lets meet up for "the" match...m thinking of supp germany, 'coz I want them to lose ;)....

Nice to c the 1st couple write on the blog...and both of them have made very valid points....with so much crowd at the engagement I think v'll just be taking pics standing in one corner...and deva will point out to us from the stage...those 3 DFP's (read Desi's from Punjab) are my friends....maybe the acronym will help bhaujaai remember us ;).....

As far as jokes on uncle go....I spoke to him yest and he said the same....ki tum log toh mera mazaak hi udaate rahoge...but being the "good" friend I have assured him that jokes will not go out of our circle....so he stays the TDH dude until......his luck runs out I guess ;).....but chill uncle we will try and maintain the decorum...if there is any, with the hawaai fires going on and people eating 70 rasgullas at a time ;)

But all said and done...m toh looking forward to this trip big time....and as far as the l'now trip goes....had disc it with Nidhi and Kosal...and both of them thght if v r gng out lets go to a thanda place....but since Divya has work there and we need a brk so l'now is also fine....lets deci quickly but....

Chalo another day begins...2 more days to go to patna :)

Good to know that there would be atleast some representation of Deva's desi jingbang. Accha hai...let our NRI bhaujaai get introduced to the dehati clan gradually...hum sabse ek saath milti to shyaad too much ho jata.
Anywaz on a more serious note, would have loved to come for the grand event but me off to Cal next week and with less than 3 months to go for our own D day, every weekend the only thing my parents want to do is to shop till we drop.
Mamu & I are were planning to go to lucknow towards the end of July and wanted to check with you guys on the same. I need to meet my bro there and pick up a few things for the shaadi. Since Gullu talked about the trip just wanted to know if the rest of the junta would be keen on going to Lucknow...Its definitely not as exotic as Kinnaur but could do for a weekend trip nonetheless. Do let me know so that we can make plans accordingly(will need to book train tickets I guess) Uncle can obviously play the perfect host and show us around the happening
town :-)
For the ones who finally go to Patna this weekend apart from the pics etc...make sure you have enough anecdotes to bring back and narrate to us lesser mortals who couldn't make it for this big day.
Deva...sorry for not being able to come this time but will definitely make it for the wedding..koi baat nahi agar ekdum interiors mein bhi ho!!
None of the bosses are in office today...after a really long time my day at work doesn't seem all that bad any more!Gotta go now..catch you all later..Ciao.

trip

i second the fact that we need to go for a trip.. divya n mamu let us know wen u guys are free.. will the last weekend of July be fine with every one... that is 29 and 30th july else we can go 1st weekend of Aug..ie 5th and 6th Aug....
vidya was suggesting kinnaur.. else kahin pe bhi chalo... but chalo.. please guys all of u atleast put ure thoughts to this...

and kosal, aabhas n anubhav.. enjoy the trip and take some snaps and post them on the blog once ure back...
In addition to the breaking news by my journo bro, uncle has been informed that we are landing at 9.15 on sunday. His reply was "cab will be there to pick up. will take u to the hotel"....and obv I asked "will it be a lancer? will it take us to the radisson" :)......but srsly it wud have been a lot more fun if all of us cud have gone....like my bro put, us desi ppl will find it very diffi....esp with the NRI bhaujaai....both I and bro toh will be useless....yes kosal can make a conversation defi...

Mota is as usually doing goli baazi....but the biggest ditch came from the HS people....as in she had all the creds to represent us in front of the NRI's...but what to say....maybe travelling in the bus was sthg that put her off...or she wud have been 2 embarrassed with us....jo bhi hai....hum toh patna ja raha hoon....

Btw are we thinking for a wkend break....ab toh one more wicket down hai...v shud do sthg jaldi...kya pata aur kaun kab kat jaaye....

We are going to Patna!!

As of now me, bro and kaushal are going to patna on Sunday to attend the big day. We will be catching the first bus to Patna (and by bus I mean the Air Deccan early morning flight). Have already told my mom to pack paranthas and achar for the journey! Its a blooody three hour long flight!!

As Uncle clearly mentioned the other day that the wedding is gonna be held even in more interiors of Bihar, we should at least make it for this event.

Motu too has said that he will try to make it via Ranchi and all that. But looks dicey for him. Would have been good fun if all of us would have been able to make it. Chalo at least we will have some "desi" ( and by that I mean bhai and me!) representatives at the NRI meets Bihari liasion.

Looking forward to it eagerly.

Congratulations

Well..after almost two-three years of meeting girl's chachas, mamas, brothers, uncles and warming Haldiram's chairs, breaking glasses...eating sambar vadas and chhola bhaturas..Uncle has finally been tied down. Congratulations uncle!I am sure you will be equally relieved and happy.

While I am sure most of us will be keen to go, the kind of shrt notice Uncle has given will be a bit tough to manage, though it will be an event to remember. There will be a 21-topon ki salaami types ka jashan in the Deva household.

Chalo if the Indo-Pak dispute is still going on, a dispute of a similar magnitude has been solved at least. While foreign returned wife is good news for uncle, I do agree with Mamu that we mite be considered a bit Desi for her standards. The only one who can strike a conversation with her has to be Mr Kaushal. With his "Can u talk English, walk english, eat English (without grammatical mistakes)" routine.

Mufti has given the best remark on this event. He said something on these lines ,"Yaar, devaji ka toh bhediye wali kahani hai....itni baar announce kar chuka thha pehle, ki iss baar yakeen nahin ho raha"

Congrats once again!

WHOA!!!

What a day it already has turned out to be!!!! the hottest catch is out of the marriage market!!!! the only value add i can gv to previous two posts is that the marriage is in dec...i guess next in line is Kosal and his mysterious girlfriend......But great news and defi calls for celibrations.. me and Nidhi were planning to meet in saket for da vinci (I will nvr be able to see that movie!!!!!!!) but that can be scrapped if yall intend to come that side.... or anywhr else in delhi for that matter.. chalo me goes...

Chat Mangni Pat Byaah

Yes thats what uncle is doing...altho I dont know the date of byaah but the mangni is a huge surprise....my first reaction was that uncle is doing a "mota" on us...all of us remember how many times he has got a date for his shaadi ;)....but this time it looks pakka...the girl as mamu has put has done her MBA from the UK....worked for HSBC chennai for about 3 mths then quit to chill till her marriage....and bhaujai's name is Aastha....sounds familiar ;)...uncle hasnt met her but has been talking to her etc...as in thats what he says ;)...but one thing that I am sure every1 who spoke to uncle must have noticed....he sounded very happy, touchwood :)....finally the wait is over, uncle is actually getting married....yaaayyyyyyy!!!!!!

Patna is the venue and the date is 2nd July...dont know how we'l manage to reach....M sure every1 will be loaded with work...but lets meet today, if possi so that we can deci on the travel plans :).....

Incidentally this post is the 100th on our blog...so thats our 1st century....from May 8th to June 26th....not bad, eh :)...neways Gotta go....have a conf in del today...so will be that side in the eveng...if we plan to meet....chow :)

Amazing article must say...but b4 nethg, my bro has bot the V3i....sexed out fone it is....too kool.....coming back to the article....and honestly I dont think ne1 else apart from Rohit Brijnath cud have written....that guy is amazing....u can actually be moved....awesome it was....

Uncle ne toh posts ki bahaar laga di....very good uncle...but R Kipling thoda too much ho gaya na...as in what was the connect...it's a very nice piece but still....forgive us lesser mortals for the ignorance ;)...but ur conv with the gaswallah has been very accurately captured I guess...and the inzy one....hmmm, dint have so many the's actually....

Mota ke baare mein kya kaha jaaye....but I dont think we shud undermine the achievement...how he wud have gone to his dad and got this done is no small feat....bravo motu...too bad the it wasnt punjab's cm or maybe he cud have put in a word to dharmender also ;)....

Kosal is as usual missing....mayank is going back to mumbai today and will be back only around oct I think....

Baaki toh kaam as usual....chow :)

carry on uncle

Well...i actually got choked with emotions reading this article:

Absolute masterpiece......mamu, no need to guess the writer!;)

In a sporting world of swollen egos, pouting stars, silly belligerence on the field, artless sledging, he has never undignified the adulation he has been given.
Somehow through it all, his riches, his deification, his life turned into an unending episode of reality TV, Tendulkar has maintained a sense of proportion. Except now some of us are losing ours.

Judgement of Tendulkar in recent times in some places has been hurried, harsh and disquietingly rude. He failed in the Test series against Pakistan and he was Endulkar, he scored a century in the first one-dayer and he was Tondulkar, a grand career glibly reduced to a slick headline.

But then this is the age of provocation, where some pundits confuse volume with wisdom, and cricket is turned from game into tamasha (commotion).

Mocking ability

Reasonable observers like Gavaskar and Shastri remain, but they are in danger of being drowned out by more strident voices. Moin Khan, hardly the most chaste of cricketers, is giving us hysterical lessons in sportsmanship, while some former Indian players make a loud living offering bold and often banal pronouncements. Not that any of this means that Tendulkar is immune to criticism, or that he is above scrutiny. He is the man in the arena and must be judged, like others, not on reputation but performance.

He does not ask for favours, but only to be accorded the same dignity he has brought to the game. We need not swoon over him, neither must we revile him.

But to blithely dismiss him as had been done recently, to mock his ability as some do, to say he is afraid of fast bowling as others contend, is painful and unedifying.

Tendulkar was always a reluctant God and perhaps it is just that we have become impatient worshippers. His decline may eventually be more revealing about us than about him. Perhaps we have spent a lifetime perceiving Tendulkar as a batting superman and are unsure how to deal with him as a man, a human batsman who fails, who makes mistakes.

But after 17 years even the machine, and so many saw him as one, has to wear down, its mechanics occasionally faulty, and for some this is a revelation. What did we expect, that he would never grow up, that he be 16 forever? Are we?

When Tendulkar scored his 35th Test century recently it was said quickly, here and there, that he was back to his best. Of course, he wasn't, he cannot be.

But this is no surprise; what is a surprise, and thus a tribute to Tendulkar, is that his career stayed so brilliant so long, his embrace of discipline so constant that it stands unmatched in recent times and perhaps not just in cricket.

Sure his consistency has been somewhat amputated, but this is a natural progression; he is no longer the all-time great practitioner of the batting arts, but he remains a very good one. His 95 in the third one-dayer in Pakistan, on a pitch that was alive, had his captain, Dravid, in raptures.

Suggestions that his career is done with are laughable, for it is not as if India's bench is littered with superior talents who are being denied an opportunity. Men must earn their place, Tendulkar still is earning his. Over the hill he may be, but he is still more accomplished than other men at the top of their mountains.

Evident struggle

Roger Federer remarked recently that despite the apparent ease with which he dominates, some days tennis is hard work for him and he must labour.

For Tendulkar, it was the same, so fluently did he play once that we did not see nor appreciate his struggle, his singular focus of mind, which ensured that bad days or good, he found a way to produce his best for India.

Now his struggles are more evident, and yet there is a particular pleasure in watching Tendulkar past his prime, it is moving yet instructive to watch a champion return from injury and grapple with his game, propelled by a desperate, undying belief that even now, so many years later, he is still, dammit, good enough.

Tendulkar is a proud man, always has been, and if his instinctive genius has slowed then it is educational to watch a batsman remake himself, to find a new style that suits him, to stay relevant as a player even now.

He has defied everything for nearly two decades, bowlers, pitches, expectations, and now he is challenging time. He will face it head on; he always does.

One of these days it will end, maybe next year after the World Cup, maybe later, and this will be interesting, too, for modern sportsmen are loath to admit their moment has passed, taken kicking and pleading from their field of play. Retirement is a final admission of failed skills, it is these days an expensive decision as well.

Tendulkar, when he goes, must go of his own hand, it would be the only honourable departure. But that can wait. For now let's lock away the cheap criticism and the sweeping judgements, and enjoy the final chapters of a decent man and superior batsman. The season of Tendulkar is not yet over.

One of the favorite Mastrmind answers

Guys....we have guessed the name so often now for u in full.......
If
If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or, being hated, don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster And treat those two imposters just the same; If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, Or watch the things you gave your life to broken, And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss, And lose, and start again at your beginnings And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew To serve your turn long after they are gone, And so hold on when there is nothing in you Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue, Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch; If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute With sixty seconds' worth of distance run - Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

Thank you allah.ya the indian batsman is play very good today. we is try very hard but is not win the game.Rameez: Any words for Dhoni?Inzy: Ya dhoni is play very well. He is hit his shot very hard in our gaps. In start, we is protect our gaps very well. the grass is also thick.. but dhoni is split our gaps with his bat.Rameez: Another ordinary bowling performance?Inzy: Ya our balls is loose. the bowler is went for many run. Asif is bowled well. Also, after some shots the ball is out of shape. umpire is not give another ball.. it is tough to play with one ball.Rameez: Dropped catches.. did that prove costly?Inzy: ya the ball is not stick to our hands. we is practice a lot sticking our bat in our hands.. but now we is more practice sticking balls in our hands.Rameez: Any plans for the next match?Inzy: ya India is on top but we is try to bounce on our back. Insha allah we is play better.Rameez: All the best InzyInzy: Thank is you.

m so bored.. koi kaam nahin hai...and have a night shift today.. went thru the rafting pics.. was amazing fun... don't u guys think another weekend getaway is over due? Esp before the first couple gets too busy with wedding arrangements....and for nidhi sake we cant go near water.. coz she is 'extreeemly susceptible' to the elements of nature. Corbett ka trip toh is ruled out.... coz its closed from June to November. I guess we can hit the hills...Kinnaur sounds good.. even raniket, nainital, Dharamshala..mcldganj (nainital is a little crappy compared to the other options)...would b grt..... anyways.... me goes to grab a bite....

funniest football joke!!

as much as I love England...this is the funniest joke i have heard recently!!

World Cup Fever

It is just before the England v Brazil match. Ronaldinho goes into
theBrazilian changing room to find all his teammates looking a bit glum.

"What's up?" he asks.

"Well, we're having trouble getting motivated for this game. We know

it's important but it's only England . They're sh*te and we can't be bothered."

Ronaldinho looks at them and says, "Well, I reckon I can beat them by myself. You lads go down the pub."

So Ronaldinho goes out to play England by himself and the rest of the Brazilian team go off for a few jars.

After a few pints they wonder how the game is going, so they get the landlord to put the teletext on. A big cheer goes up as the screen

reads
"
Brazil 1 - England 0 (Ronaldinho 10 minutes)". He is beating England all by himself!

Anyway, a few pints later and the game is forgotten until someone remembers, "It must be full time now, let's see how he got on." They put the teletext on.

"Result from the Stadium 'Brazil 1 (Ronaldinho 10 minutes) - England 1
(Lampard 89 minutes)."

They can't believe it; he has single-handedly got a draw against England!! They rush back to the Stadium to congratulate Ronaldinho.

They find him inthe dressing room, still in his gear, sitting with his head in his hands.

He refuses to look at them. "I've let you down, I've let you down."

"Don't be daft, you got a draw against England , all by yourself. And they only scored at the very, very end!"

"No, no, I have, I've let you down. I got sent off after 12 minutes."

more on women and football

"I would be surprised if Argentina didn't win this" - my (Australian) wife Kim, after Argentina had scored their fourth goal against S&M.

During the Angola vs Portugal match the TV commentators mentioned something about World Cup groups, prompting my confused wife to ask "Do they get three points for every goal?"

Watching Germany/Costa Rica here in the States with the better half, when the TV commentator makes a mention of the "12th Man":
She: What did he mean, 12th man? I thought there were 11 players?
Me: There are only 11 players.
She: I only see 10.
Me: Including the keeper?
She: Oh... so who is the 12th man? One of the substitutes?
Me: It's a term for the home fans.
(5 seconds of silence)
She: So how do they choose what fan gets to play? Is it random or did they win a contest?
Jesus wept.

Whilst watching the opening game of the world cup I tried to get my girlfriend Julie to take an interest and was talking about Jens Lehmann. I mentioned that he's an Arsenal player and that being an Arsenal supporter I wanted him to have a good tournament. She replied. "How can he play for Germany if he's an Arsenal player?"

Commentator: "He was unable to train due to a cruciate knee injury."
The lovely Lady: "So what knee is more crucial than the other?"

I work with a bird who having watched the Italy - Ghana game, came into the office and said, "Which one of the Ghana players plays for the Czech Republic?" Her name is Lisa H, and she is a constant source of entertainment.

From a girl in my office during a conversation detailing the finer points of qualification from the group stages; "What happens if England and Sweden win all their group games?"

I'd just turned on the France/Switzerland game when my sister-in-law perched on the sofa next to me, took a look at the the ticker at the top of the screen - FRA v SWI - and asked "Why are France playing Swindon?"

Whilst watching the opening between Germany and Costa Rica, my wife challenged me with the following questions: "When a team scores a goal and the players jump on each other to celebrate, do they ever jump on someone from the other team by mistake? And if they do, has that ever started a fight?"

My wife was watching the England v Jamaica warm-up game and commented "It's not fair - England won't give the other team the ball.

While watching England v T&T my friend's bird who for the life of me I can't remember the name of cos I don't pay attention, but she does look a little like the bird from Harry Potter says... "Can goalkeepers use their feet?" I just looked at her and shook my head.

Watching football with my girlfriend on Sunday I was talking about exactly where I was going to watch England's next game, my girlfriend asked "So who do we play next then?" I said that our next game was on Thursday against Trinidad & Tobago to which she replied with a puzzled look on her face, "what, both of them?".

My receptionist - "When are england playing next?"
Me - "Tomorrow morning, 2am"
Receptionist - "Who against?"
Me - "Trinidad and Tobago"
Receptionist ' "TWO GAMES?"

...I was out having a smoke after the games on Saturday, when I heard a great exchange between two random drunken birds which went as follows.
Random bird one: "Did you see any of the football today?"
Random bird two: "No, why? Who won?"
Random bird one: "England beat Sweden, and Trinidad drew with Tobago"

...My girlfriend Jackie used to think that "injury time" was the time at the end of the match when both teams tried to injure the opposion!

...I have just got tickets for Brazil v Australia. I am obviously excited. I tell my other half. Her reaction: "Why would you want to go and see Brazil play"

Today will be a better day :)

I can absolutely understand what the 1st Lady is going thru....I am almost in the same soup...altho I have managed to taalo my laptop for sometime and thankfully we dont get cabins....although there was an attempt to move me to a separate cubicle but I have managed to wriggle out of it, literally ;).....but I hope ur day is better today :)

Weekend plans toh r stuck with panauti man....and I know some ppl will say ki its coz v discussed on the blog....I dont agree with them but if not discussing wkend plans on the blog means we can have some fun, I am game :)....kosal wanted to go out and he had made that v clear at Morrison....but Gullu (dats a v funny one ;) ) met with a bad accident....thankfully nthg happened to her but the car has set her back by 35k....so obv no plans cud materialise...altho we met Kosal at PVR....minks,ayan and kosal then went to ruby tuesday....so sthg was better than nthg for Kosal....

Deva zee lived upto his repu and dint come on sat....btw we saw phir hera pheri yest...and any1 who sees it will miss Uncle a lot....'coz in every 2nd diaogue, Paresh Rawal goes "Devaa Deva Devaa"......overall its an ok movie but some jokes are too funny :)....2nd half was a drag.....Uncle was listening to Kailasa live in lucknow yest.....things one wud do out of boredom :).....

WC will hot up now I hope...all the big names are act disapp....they r winning but nthg too great....France had a draw again yest....n I read somewhere that 1 more yellow card for Zizou will be the end for him....altho the way they r playing m sure Zizou wud want 1.....

BTW this mth end kosal wants to take his bike back to c'garh....and we are thinking ki lets go biking to c'garh....I have told Uncle and he'l also try and come for this....v can try for the 1st wkend in july...by that time hopefully Kosal's home will be well prep to welcome us :)

Just got to know that have to go for a meeting to del....so ciao it is :)

Motu stop imposing your Liverpool connection with the World Cup as well....Crouch is a bad striker!!The way he misses chances makes me believe Kluivert is the best striker ever! And if he is the man for England....then God really save the Queen!!

The World Cup is really hotting up....expect another cracker tonight when Oranje clash with Ivory Coast....

Welcome Kop

Writing after long time ( REALLY LONG TIME,WE MISSED U SO MUCH).....just returned from bombay( AND OBV DID NOT MEET BABY)......met Akshay & Ayan and watched France Switzerland game with them at Irish Pub.........the game was boring but had a good time there (OBV FREE MEIN DARU ALWAYS MEANS A GOOD TIME)......Yetserday watched Germany Poland at Starboard bar at Taj, Bombay(STOP DROPPING NAMES OF HOTELS, LAGTA HAI UNCLE HAS INFLUENCED U ALSO), till 2:30 am, with two Lufthansa airlines pilots who ended up paying for my Vodka too (THEY PAID FOR UR VODKA, WHAT DID U PAY THEM FOR? OR U RETURNED THE FAVOR IN KIND KYA)..........They just went wild when Neuvil scored in injury time .......was planning to meet Sanath and Ananya too but got free after 10 .......and was i lucky not to run into Pattu.......cannot take his detailed match reports & player analysis........ Was hoping to run into someone (BEWARE OF RUNNING INTO HER, SHE IS DHARMENDER'S SON....U'L BE ON THE FLOOR IN A SEC) but may be next time( THATS WHAT I LIKE ABOUT U, THE ETERNAL OPTIMIST).......hope so. Peter Crouch is the man for England (HAS TO BE ONE OF THE SLOPPIEST STRIKERS IN THE HISTORY OF THE GAME...AND THE FACES HE MAKES AFTER MISSING AN OPP,WHAT A WASTE THAT MAN IS )........and Gerrard does it again to Hislop in injury time.......but they were bad till 84th min (AND THE CREDIT FOR THIS ALSO GOES TO CROUCH)

Btw are we going to Orange Room t'row....HS people have not reverted still...finally its fri so lets deci on that...it was really nice to have motu write finally...and the do's and don'ts for women during football are also too kool.....

Extremely important advice and recommendations to be passed on to

wives, girlfriends, fiancés, mothers, sisters, daughters, etc. To all women in general. These rules are to be communicated prior to the World Cup in June/July
this year...

LIST OF RULES

1. From 9 June to 9 July 2006, you should read the sports section of
the newspaper so that you are aware of what is going on regarding the
World Cup, and that way you will be able to join in the onversations. If you fail to do this, then you will be looked at in a bad way, or you will be totally ignored. DO NOT complain about not receiving any attention

2. During the World Cup, the television is mine, at all times, without any exceptions. If you even take a glimpse of the remote control, you will lose it (your eye).

3. If you have to pass by in front of the TV during a game, I don't
mind, as long as you do it crawling on the floor and without
distracting me. If you decide to stand nude in front of the TV, make
sure you put clothes on right after because if you catch a cold, I
won't have time to take you to the doctor or look after you during the World Cup month.

4. During the games I will be blind, deaf and mute, unless I require a refill of my drink or something to eat. You are out of your mind if you expect me to listen to you, open the door, answer the telephone,or pick up the baby that just fell from the second floor....it won't happen.

5. It would be a good idea for you to keep at least 2 six packs in the fridge at all times, as well as plenty of things to nibble on, and please do not make any funny faces to my friends when they come over to watch the games. In return, you will be allowed to use the TV between 12am and 6am, unless they replay a good game that I missed during the day.

6. Please, please, please!! If you see me upset because one of my
teams is losing, DO NOT say "get over it, it's only a game", or "don't worry, they'll win next time". If you say these things, you will only make me angrier and I will love you less. Remember, you will never ever know more about football than me and your so called "words of encouragement" will only lead to a break up or divorce.

7. You are welcome to sit with me to watch one game and you can talk
to me during halftime but only when the commercials are on, and only
f the half-time score is pleasing me. In addition, please note I am
saying "one" game, hence do not use the World Cup as a nice cheesy excuse to "spend time together".

8. The replays of the goals are very important. I don't care if I have seen them or I haven't seen them, I want to see them again. Many times.

9. Tell your friends NOT to have any babies, or any other child
related parties or gatherings that requires my attendance because:
a ) I will not go,
b ) I will not go, and
c ) I will not go.

10. But, if a friend of mine invites us to his house on a Sunday to
watch a game, we will be there in a flash.

11. The daily World Cup highlights show on TV every night is just as
important as the games themselves. Do not even think about saying "but you have already seen this...why don't you change the channel to something we can all watch??", the reply will be: "Refer to Rule #2 of this list".

12. And finally, please save your expressions such as "Thank God the
World Cup is only every 4 years". I am immune to these words, because after this comes the Champions League, Italian League,
Spanish League,Premier League, etc etc.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Regards,

Men of the World
Last nite was fun...and I think all of us reached home on time...except great uncle zee who left his laptop at Cafe Morrison....not to worry but...... 'coz after 5 min of frantic calling etc it was traced...or so I know 'coz no1 called after that ;)

Btw I forgot to tell u guys yest....Monki has passed his 2nd year also...got 64% and is officially in the 3rd and final year at IHM.....so sat we have one more reason to party :)

Yest again India could not do anything...I saw the match till Wi were 6 wickets down....germany apparently had a thrilling finish, with a goal in the 91st minute....but I that was the only minute in the entire match which was thrilling...otherwise it was a very dull match...thats what I tght....

Chalo me goes back to work....chow :)

Hello pplz..

Just read Vidya's blog on the weekend plans...I agree not too many plans have worked out on this blog but still was very tempted to put up one last plan for the weeknd.
Was just thinking that since the entire jingbang might be here ths wknd( deva kosal & co.) then maybe we can all party at Orange room first and then head for south ex after that (Gulia babes you need to please check and let us know if we can all crash out at South ex).
Junta can then catch up on football/cricket/ mastermind etc...whatever people fancy. Pplz plz write in and let see if this plan is workable or not.....gotta go now..catch ya later. Hope this blog isn't that manhoos after all;-)

Monday, June 12, 2006

BTW me reading The Motorcycle Diaries... if u hvnt already rad it..plz do.

Sporty Sunday

This was one sunday in a long long time that one had to use the remote....there was the fench open where fedex took off but could not stay on track....was really sad to c him "derailed"....cricket was definitely a cure for the insomniacs when dravid and kaif were at it....after dravid dhoni and the punjabi cheetah "yuvi" failed to wake people up....irfan tried and failed...and when Kumble started slicing, I had to change the channel.....F1 was before all this and so was Alonso...but still there was solace in Schumi being 2nd....and ofcourse there was Joga Bonito....but I just saw Robben score and then saw Pauleta scored for Portugal in the 4th minute...uske baad ki commentary will be provided by the rest of the bloggers :)

The weekend was hectic as usual....was in office only till 4 yest.....the First Lady sent a wonderful fwd on drunk girls....its a must read...a lot of us will identify some1 or the other with that fwd ;)......

Kosal is coming t'row nite...so maybe wed nite we guys can meet....only for dinner if possi....Monki is expected back on fri....lets c...gtg...ciao :)

Kick Off

Its just a matter of hours when most of our lives for the next one month will be consumed by Football. One thing I noticed reading after today's papers is that Indians are not only bad at playing the game they are even more pathetic when it comes to writing about it. Not saying that some of us could do a better job but I am sure it wont be as pathetic as the rest.

One paper (dont know HT or Times)carried the headline something related to Joga Bonito..mayank and nidhi..its Joga and not Soga!!Anyways the headline had Joga Bonito which means Play Beautiful but one of our leading national daily had it translated as "Beautiful Football". Christ! Dont know how they are designated to write about something as beautiful as football.

Siddharth Saxena of Times...who had writeen the infamous "Endulkar" article redeemed himself in my eyes by writing a good piece on why one shouldn't bet on Brazil The only quality piece out of the 50 in the papers!

As they as say Let the Games Begin!!
Dont about ur prof Sachdeva's attributes in the mashoor boxer....but he is definitely following the prof's words...its business, business and business for Uncle these days....koi khabar hi nahi hai....aisa na ho ki uncle ab shaadi ke baad hi mile....very few ppl rem that he was supp to get married on 23rd May ;)....

Kosal was so desp for a room mate...hope the room mate is a deadly mix of u know who (read Minks and Deva) when it comes to keeping the house clean ;)....then he'l understand ki living alone is better off....waise knowing kosal he wud have checked the roomie achche se....or shall i say thok baja ke ;)...maybe thats the reason they r living together....m sure his roomie will intro Kosal to his friends as a happy and gay person ;)

Monki and mamu have gone back to their slumber again it seems...I hope the WC will get them to write, MSN had some interesting trivia on WC...altho m sure most of u will know it already ;)...and where are ze ladies :)....no1 has time or wat..

As far as Footage goes....this is his teaser campaign....saala yahan bhi footage hi khana chahta hai....motu remember...jo garajte hain woh baraste nahi....and esp jo itne lazy hain ;)....but m sure the only reason he isnt writing is 'coz he must be busy at the "mantralaya" or cud be that his GM's grandson's daughter is coming to Raipur and he is busy deciding on the menu, getting the cooler repaired in the office etc ;)

Kaam aa gaya....me goes :)

Sach-Deva

Sachdeva would have been an oxymoron for Deva Zee.....The joke had me in splits today also!though alien to the satyanasa joke!Imagine if Deva was Sachdeva and acquired some attributes of our prof Sachdeva...then it would have been just awesoooommeee!....To quote him..."Once u enter my class...its business!Business is business is business"

Good to know kaushal has found a house...I-Bank colleague ko palkon pe hi rakhna...kahin aur nahin!!

Motu has warned me that he will have some nasty story abt me on this space today....but mote u should know..."Extensions always suffer" But no qualms...go ahead!

satyanasa!!!!!!!

ha ha kaushal!

Good boy Kosal

Thats the spirit my boy, taking time out when ur living out of a suitcase :).....and satyanasa was very funny......reminded me of the joke on uncle...for the benefit of people who dont know this, this joke came out when we were discussing Uncle's compulsive lying....what would deva be called if he spoke the truth always...Sachdeva ;).....

13,14th are weekdays so kosal has chosen the right days....dont think we'l b able to go out anywhere...dude hope u r not staying at the guest house....

I have a couple of WC planners...with the entire schedule and groups....very kool....in case ne1 wants any....

The day is hectic as usual....ciao :)

Wednesday, June 07, 2006

finally, after living outta one bag for more than a mnth, i'v got a house for myslf. its a 3-bedroom flat in chd.....wll b sharing wid one of my I-bank colleagues. its a neat house but th bedrooms end before they start. and since my stuff is still lyin somwhr in bathnda, i'll wont b able to shift b4 nxt week.

btw, i'll b in del on 13th n 14th...........hav a meetng in del. n wll get a post-paid fone vry soon n wll call up all u guys frequently. pre-paids suck big time.

gud to c george here. n was vry vry happy to see vidya krishnan's name on sunday's page 1 story.........im proud of u my child, withiiiin 24 hrs...........u've turned NASA into......satyanasa ;)

Welcomes again :)

This is has to be one of the most bhasadi days on the blog...the empty mind did certainly help bro ;).....and even if Mamu's entry dint coincide with the WC it did coincide with the launch of Bust.....and I am sure the title chosen has sthg to do with Mote's chest ;)....Esha toh doesnt even qualify for the term ;).....

Actually the movie could be a biography....and wud defi be better than the Hindi version....and no doubts who will play Antara Mali's role....is that y our scriptwriter bumped into some1 at TC ;)......

Now lets keep the bhasad going on....Uncle is also missing and so is the new "Teli" on the block...Kaushal "aissse" mat kar yaar ;).....gotta go, in the middle of sthg....

All the Bust!

I guess people suffer from blog shyness...though good to see Monkey stepping up and posting. Mamu...arre kuch to likh!

Uncle is I guess busy biting the heat and dust in UP while Kaushal does the same in Punjab..Nidzzz is off to Goa for the weekend...where she will be sipping beer and enjoy the rain and sand! Heard its pouring badly there...While Divya looks to make Chandini Chowk her second home till the W-Day!

Inside Man was neat..but abrupt ending. Denzel's one liners are to die for in the movie!..some of them are absolutely incredible. Clive Owen too was pretty good...played the part very well.

Dont think anything is possible for the weekend as race and football is on air! And as far as watching games in pubs is concerned...all good games are midnite..so that goes outta the window...but still we can go and catch some action.

Motu i dont why is abstaining from writing here...he too is going to bombay sometime next week...Please pray ladies and gentlemen...mufti runs into Esha Deol (baby is a word far too better word to be wasted on someone like her!!) Otherwise ala Mast....next time any of you are in Mumbai...chances are u will have Motu driving an Auto..circling around her house!

Ahh...Ramu's factory has another story too look at! But this time it will be called "Bust"...here is how the story goes:

A small town Johnny (mote..u dont deserve to be called big city lad after ur stints in Merrut, Raipur, Jabalpur, Patiala, Bhopal and Sangrur!) after trying his luck and hand (pun intended) on every second girl he met finally falls for a Bollywood heroine (in between a few "parrots".... flew in some parties). He drives his friends crazzzzy with stupid bull crap about her. A few friends start insulting the heroine. Johnny gets upset! Threatens to screw everyone's lives. In between throws a few comments like "I am off". Enter a Murari from Bihar....who holds some dark deep secrets about Johnny! The usual blackmail goes...and Ala Hatimtai Johnny knows his life is in a parrot's neck! (Motu...is there some fascination for parrots?)

Anyways..one fine day Johnny goes to Mumbai Nagariya...in hope of meeting the love (or shall we call it lust?) of his life. Sweats it around for a coupla days realising that he has to stay there forever to find true love. And as they say..hope springs eternal, he starts driving an auto near the area where she lives. Tired and exhausted, one day Johnny is sitting in a Chhamiya Bar...when suddenly (with the movie Hum's music when AB gets angry is playing) encounters lust of his life gyrating and doing some pelvic thrusts! In the background he sees the Mast hero....He knows the truth! Johnny is heartbroken! He realises that his plans go Bust...and what he was after was actually the Bust of the Lust!

With a qualified auto driver's license in his pocket and tears in his eyes..he returns to his old life of tennis, sleep and muftkhori!

THE END!!!

Last heard...Steven Spielberg is looking for Johnny to act in the Hollywood remake of Bust!!

P.S: Sorry people...getting majorly bored at work! As they say "An empty mind is a Devil's Workshop"

Disclaimer: All the characters in the story are absolutely fictional. Any resemblance to people living or dead is merely coincidental!!...hahahah!!!!

Welcome the Punjab Ka Munda

So it was boredom in jalandhar that got monki to write....but m glad that finally some1 else also wrote on this blog...good boy monki, and I liked ur sign-off....tpyi IHM style...chow ;)....India ne bhi apni lagwa hi li....saale couldnt get the tail enders out....anyways just 2 days to go for the world cup....that'l be quite a relief....and Raikonnen I doubt too, but it'll be a nice sporty weekend....and m sure v r not meeting newhere...every1 is so busy....btw a lot of pubs are doing football wkends with beer....like we saw at Blues....maybe a couple of bhasad matches v shud watch there....wearing our team tees :)

Good point monki raised about inviting Bobby and Pallavi....no one rep on that...toh main kaise invite karoon....atlst yes hi bol dete.....and honestly I dont know whether both of them want to be a part of the blog or not....so will the resp ppl plz ask them :)

Me and minks saw Inside Man last nite....Denzel Washington is too kool....altho Jodie Foster toh cam back unnec...no need for her in the movie....the bank robbery was awesome....but overall an incomplete movie....MI III is releasing on the 9th..

Monki keep on writing buddy....and ciao it is :)

History did not repeat itself

Big B did not come...apparently he sprained his ankle and missed the flight...but today only I saw a story in DT that he was partying for his anniversary ;)...Amitji hain isliye gaali nahi de sakta...but meeting him twice would have been too much of a good luck :).....the week was hectic as usual so cudnt write on the blog too.....

This week looks slightly better....spoke to kaushal yest...is in c'garh....looking for a house....how sad na that he cant write on the blog....or he wud have given us updates on wats going on....but its understandable that he's busy....with 'S'o many women in his life, its not diffi to be busy....;)

Mota toh lets not talk about....mote yaar pehle bata deta ki english mein itna likhna tere liye tuff hoga...I could have found out a hindi blogging site....and this isnt isf also jahan par toh cut copy kar ke likh deta....koi baat nahi, I hope u pick up something that u can write on......btw did u c sehwag's new look...again he reminds me of the look u had in between :)

Me and li'l bro went to the adi sale...which was just for employees and their family/friends....and it was pure madness.....I mean the way people were literally snatching things....minks tried to snatch a t-shirt but the other end was held by an aunty who could have easily been from WWF (no pun here ;).....and obv he let her have the t-shirt....very wise move it was...

Blues was fun....esp coz we left before he could have played Himesh....overall the music was good...but HS people were hosting the dinner...its been long since we went to South Ex and played mastermind....lets hope this saturday we can make it....

Finally I saw Da Vinci....its a good movie....although Audrey Tautou is a very bad choice for the movie....she appears to be shocked all the time...whereas in the book the character is really smart...Tom Hanks also wakes up in the 2nd half....Lee teabing is the best character I thght...and obv the ending was awesome....any verdict on Inside Man.....heard Denzel Washington has done a damn good job....I am sure Uncle will be the 1st one to give the review...but Lucknow mein toh it will called "andar ka aadmi" ;)....btw I heard some1 predict the other day that within 2 years lucknow will be the place....and the beauty quotient is also going up.....I am sure no city has done this much for an RSM....keep it up Lucknow ;)

I am sure no1 here has the chutti to go to Kanha....but we can try going out for 4 two wkends...1 for c'garh with Kosal and 1 for the Nawabon ka shehar....I am not using the word p**n here ;)...

Too long a post this is becoming...hope some1 else also writes....or mebbe Mamu can put some quiz questions on this....sthg interesting it'l b.....ciao it is then
