We guys finally met that day....minks and bobby were busy but mamu, divya and gc came...had a good time...kaafi der tak toh we played jua only....then after dinner also, some IMT stories were passed around...these guys left at 2am I think...and this was a weekday...so u can imagine how all of us would have been in office the next day...the most funny part though was going thru some of our old pics...trips to rishikesh, jaipur, kasauli etc....I think looking at old pics is the only way I realise that I am growing older ;-)...but it was good fun

Nov is here too
I think why I have become lazy is 'coz of Twitter...somehow I think that whatever I am tweeting is anyways visible on the blog so if anyone logs in they can see I am alive ;-)....will try and be more regular
Today I complete one year at Porsche...and time has actually flown...like we discuss, whenever we meet, this year has gone by in a blink....good or bad, it actually flew
K toh aajkal is too busy collecting compliments and being modest...I'm actually surprised to see him post on the blog :-p....well thats how it begins buddy and I hope it continues..jahan tak party karne ki baat hai,ur explanations are useles...we all know the truth...Vagabond maine kitne time baad suna :-)...Mili, dont use it on pendus like him...he'll start flaunting 'coz it has "bond" in the word ;-)...
Mili - how were ur exams...scholarship and all pe jaana is so cool na...kisi aur ke paison pe aish karne ka maza hi alag hai...halloween toh del mein bhi kaafi tha this time...hope next time K is covering such parties and we also get to see what it is
GC, Mamu and Div might drop in at our place tonite....tentative plan hi hai....The weekend gone by all of us were out of del....both of us had gone to Chennai....Mamu had gone biking with office guys to Ranthambore, Divya was at an offsite in Goa and Akshay Vidya were in Goa...hope u guys remembered to wish Akshay on his b'day...it was Oct 30th....so we should have some stories/pics to share tonight, if we meet
So long then guys....take care and have fun

Its the same here Mili
But seriously Diwali, and most of our festivals, are only meant for smaller towns...not people producing machines like metros...yahan par there is just no connect,no feeling...and problems like traffic, kill whatever joy is left....I mean how can you expect anyone to be happy if he/she spends 2 hours to travel 10 kms...its just insane.
Mili,I know what you mean though about being home at Diwali....it always is special...last night only we were remembering the excitement of getting ready early morning, dragging dad to buy crackers, then buying sweets and waiting for the evening so that puja is over jaldi so we can go to each friends house....it was good fun...and like all other things, time has changed this also...now we are against crackers 'coz they are harmful to the earth, sweets are not good for health and for who are not with their family, puja is a formality and most friends are busy...well,such is life and all we can do is try and not give in to the laziness/indifference which the current generation seems to embracing...its not cool ye know ;-)
So cheer pp Mili...ethg can be as good/bad as we make it...we'll try make it up for you when u r in India :-)

Moving and inspiring
One day a son asks his father:
"Daddy, will you run the marathon with me?"
The father answers yes and both run their first marathon together.
One day, the son asks his father if he wants to run the marathon with him again and the father answers yes. They both run the marathon together again.
Then one day the son asks his father:
"Daddy, will you run the Ironman with me?"
(the Ironman is the toughest...it requires a 4km swim, 180km biking and 42km running).
The father says yes again.
This all sounds easy...see the video now.
US celebrating it big???
I had to email people today one day before Diwali that please lets organise a pot luck and puja at someone's place before the day goes by like ny other day and I am depressed in the evening..
Though somehow festivals specially Diwali has always been very nostalgic for me..and I don't remember a single Diwali when I don't cry but I do miss taking ma to the mandir and then just standing with her in our balcony and looking at the fireworks in the sky..its a special moment..just me and her..its quiet but special and then she makes some nice paranthas and we talk late into the nite listening to her fireworks outside..Its not a very loud diwali at my place but its still special!!
This time my sister is in Chandigarh so I am glad my mom won't b alone..
Though Kaushal's parents will feel it..This is the only time in the year he is religiously at home with them and his bhaiya bhabhi...
Nidhi will be with in-laws..M sure NY will have better diwali than Nola...what are others doing for diwali??
So guys wish you all a very very happy diwali...have loads of fun..
Love and Hugs

Festive Season...where
Yest nite we were planning a cards party....and we also got a special poker chips set like this

but bob was busy so both of them dint come....divya got stuck at work and then the traffic was crazy so both of them dropped out...we had invited some more friends who also got stuck at work...so all in all it was a huge success...2 of them came at 11.30 and then we played till about 1...and I won Rs 500 :-)...first kamai of the season...2 days before the season ends...great na!!
We are planning to go to bhopal for diwali...but again it will be a 2 day trip...life is so consistently hectic...only constant for all of us I guess...except for our ace lensman maybe...jisko jab bhi phone karo, ya toh party chal rahi hoti ya get together...and what is the diff...acc to sir, party is when u have music playing...but achcha hai...he's finally put up some pics on FB,which again shows ki usne 2 mths mein kaam sirf yehi kiya hai
Any other update,hmmmmm.....Motu is buying a new car...I think he has booked the Ford Fiesta...GC is a little less than a month away from being a proud father...Vidya M has fully recovered and is back at work....Uncle as usual is super busy...was in del for a week...but I just met him for like 10 mins...and the fault is comply mine, as it was a day before the Panamera launch...
Anyways, back to work guys...hope you guys have a nice Diwali...heard both US and Japan are celeb it big time this year...good for you...'coz yahan toh the only way u realise that it is festive season, is the traffic
Ta guys and Happy Diwali!!

Even if I keep work apart, life is hectic...but the big news first...Vid and I are legally married now :-)!!!!...full jugaad laga ke bhi we had to wait for 2 hours to get the SDM to sign the certi...although thanks to the jugaad, we were comfy in an AC office of the Block Development Officer for South Del...nice stories he had on the corruption and land scams...

Spoke to Uncle a few days back...after really long...he may be in del in first week oct...dont know if he'll have the time to meet...all of us are very keen, its been really long.
In a way, I think we are moving back to the school days...when only dec hols would be fun...mili, K and Nidhi will be here...lets hope ki sab mil saken...baaki hum localites toh kaam ke bojh ke maare hain....
Next year London jaane ka ek aur jugaad ban gaya hai...Mayank has moved to London for 2 years...he has joined a London univ for M.A. in Culinary Arts...and they have a 2 week pub fest...a lot like Mili's school I think...where every night is a party, different themes and only 24 pounds...for 14 days..
Its 9.51pm and my boss sends me an sms to check an email....kya life hai...catch u pplz later

Next year K will be here
Light and Life Academy, Asia's premier photography institute is hosting a Seven day exhibition of professional photography, at, Ravindra Natya Mandir, starting on 1st November, 2009. Mr Shiva Kumar, MD, Nokia India will inaugurate the exhibition for public in Mumbai.
More than 200 images created by 40 students, who have completed the one year full time Diploma course in professional photography, will be showcased at the exhibition. The exhibition is expected to be an overwhelming draw for photography enthusiasts in the city.
The graduating students hail from a myriad of cultures. This eclectic mix of creative thought provides the ideal environment for any student of photography, and this is evident in their masterfully created images.
This batch emerges as the next generation of Indian photographers ready to revolutionize image-making in the country. The exhibition would be a platform for students to interact with people of photography fraternity, advertising and marketing professionals, serious buyers of photography and photography enthusiasts.
Light and Life Academy is the only institute of its kind in the country, imparting photographic education of international standards, with well equipped studios and international resident and visiting faculty. It is spread over 4 acres in the scenic city of Ooty, which has inspired photographers and film makers for decades. The secluded environment of the Academy facilitates a focused approach to photography, in an atmosphere of continuous interaction, experimentation and learning. The course provides a good grounding in the aesthetic, technical and personal qualities required to pursue a professional career in photojournalism. Students are exposed to the issues of style and genre.
Craziness continues
Taking of Pelham 123 is one zippy movie....there is maybe 1 scene or 2 where the movie allows you to kinda sit back....I havent seen the first one,but then travolta and denzel are their usual selves....one time watch for sure
Mili - I can understand the emotional attachment....but you gotta do what you gotta do, right.....the car is with me till the 20th, if that makes u feel better :-)and why are u thinking of PhD now....I think you are ageing before time :-p...pehlaan vyaah karao, nyaane fadao K nu pher daaktar ban jaana
Went to Hard Rock in del on tue...mayank was in town, so minks, mayank and I went...it is really nice...very spacious and music is good too....for a tue, it was quite full...and it was good to see the 40+ junta there as well...enjoying their gen songs...and the best part, is no crap about dress code and shoes...you can come in shorts and sneakers also...which is the clincher for me, I guess...I mean, you should be allowed to be yourself when you are going out to have fun...I propose the HRC as the next venue for any get together...whenever it happens...K had complained that it is too brightly lit...I dont know what u were upto and did not want light ;-)
Will continue later...Ta

i dint know bout kaushal's development that he can come in sept...thanks for telling me one more thing that i did not know bout..

i went for the Indian ocean concert on Saturday..n man it was awesome..the hall they played in hd awesome acoustics..it was pure simple wonderful..i really wish i had taken sum firangi friends..
its a long weekend here for labor day..but god i hv so many readings to catch up on..and a humongous assignment too..not to mention a literature review that i gotta submit..m planning to take the online exam for driving next week, so at least I would have a learners license..and not hv to carry my passport to every pub as ID..
I hate doing group work in school and why is that in every group you are blessed with one such person who does not wana move her/his ass to get anything done????sucks..big time..
anubhav@ I so badly wanted to see taking of pelham 123 but could not..though I have heard some people say that it did not match up to the one that came out in 70s..nyways I might watch it over the weekend and online..but by all means go ahead and watch it..i also might go for inglorious bastards..
oh i hv nther thing to crib about..after being in the usa for one year, I am still unable to get a credit card..this economy is a sucker..i mean if you dont give me a credit card how am i supposed to have a credit history???

Mili
silver lining to YSR's death
Auto guy: "Woh kahan hai"
my friend: "madras ke paas"
auto wallah: "acha.. aaj tak toh madras ka hi sune the"
Moral: As one by one our old Southie CMs kick the bucket.. the north indians will realise...gradually but eventually.. that there are actually FOUR states and not one all encompassing "madraas".
Anyway.. due to YSR death its big news day and newsroom is like a fish market right now. Baaki I went to Andhra Bhawan on the day YSR died coz a friend was assigned to cover Andhra Bhawan and shhe insisted that we have lunch there. Wrong decision!!! Spent an hour stuck in traffic on Ashoka Road. When i finally reached, it was SO CRAZY at andhra bhawan. I assumed that they would be mourning and hence the canteen would be shut. But there was a serpentiine queue for lunch coupons!!! should have turned back then and there!!! But i had to get in and see fat, dark, ugly motu uncles sweating while they eat!! eerrrghhh!!! Disgusting.
And now m back at work.. no story to file today.. just bored! I need a job! BTW mili.. u should check out this months Frontline. great issue on H1N1 management in India and the effect of teh pandemic on public health care infrastructure- which is already crumbling!!!
Anyway.. tata people.
And guys....ur missing nothing staying away.. stupid apna haath jagannath is nothing worth fretting about! Yahan kuch nahin badalta.
Crazy week

Rest assured, my coming posts will tell you what all I am busy with....apart from work there is not much happ....we are trying to catch a movie tomorrow...'Taking of Pelham 123'...reviews from NRI's are welcome....desis dont have the time to contribute I am sure...
K has an option to come to del during Sep 26-Oct2...but I think motu's qualities are rubbing off to him....and I sure he is enjoying it...sick joke, sorry ;-)....but I dont think he is coming and will land only in dec...makes sense 'coz Mili is also here then...ab sirf hum logon se milne kaun aayega....
Chalo back to work

A new week
Weekend was good with Man U defeating Arsenal and two really late nights with someone or the other over for drinks....both nights I think I slept like 4-4.30 am....wifey refused to go for QMG saying it is fun for 10 mins on TV but not when it is a 2 hour movie...and since the subject is sensitive, toh I have agreed....waiting for more reviews to convince her.
Uncle called that day ki dono bhai mil ke meri FB pe baja rahe ho, but I was in office so couldnt talk...and then vid tried calling him but then some things never change...his phone was on waiting ;-)
By this weekend, K's Wagon R will be sold I think....and I will be looking for a car...I dont know if you guys know but he has been a great help and I have been using his car since a bastard started driving mine....but then shraadh begin by this sat so for another two weeks I will be without a car...I dont know if it happens with you guys, but the urge to buy sthg new is so strong during shraadh that its not funny ;-)....the options that I am considering are Ford Fiesta, Fiat Linea or the DZire....has to be under 7L otherwise Safari is the choice...if you guys have time, look up these cars and then lets do some tp.
Chalo back to work now...Ta

Running Against Time!!
M sure everyone has a crazy busy life..i know i am living one..
The biggest disappointment was Kaminey..na na not the movie but the fact that I could not watch it. Apparently movies here in the solitary hindi theatre are put up only for two weeks and somehow everyone watched it but me :( So now I am waiting for the dvd print to be released on line..which I know is going to take forever...aah..m pretty pissed at that, specially wen someone drove all that way to watch the movie with NITYA LAKSHMI who is ready to go again next weekend..
ok kaushal before you get mad, m assuming reading her post..but nyways me n nidhi are the only ones who havent watched it..
but season 6 of desp housewives has started, so I am not complaining.
I feel as if I am running against time. Its not even been a week since classes started but I can already feel the pressure..there is my internship, classes, 20 hours of job, the same old story...I am sure u guys arent interested in listening to my cribbing..
but I agree with kaushal on one thing. I hv no idea wat the hullaboo is al bout..sumtimes I feel I hv no clue whats happening in India over what, though I dutifuly do read the times of india epaper..oh gosh..did i say that??vidya wil complain now :)
so wt is the jagannath thing is al bout??
i hv to take a core course this semester which is health systems management and I hate it cuz its all about the US health system, which I already do not know much about and wen people debate crazily about the current health reform I just listen..But its been very interesting because I am learning a lot about the health system, its loopholes n stuff..I used to think their system sucks and it got reaffirmed attending the class that it does..
on the top of my head, I dont know wat else to write bout..sumtimes there is nothing great happening, yet so much...hv recently seen super active deva on facebook..3 updates in one day :) and bobby also managed to write one..though wt was she super happy about I don't know
why is vidya sick?
Kaushal hd u heard me and taken ur tv along with you wouldn't hv to buy one now..
nyways people..better get working..
u guys hv a great weekend..
mili
sunny days are here again
its sunny here today after almost 5-6 days. so good light to shoot. have two back to back submission on fri n sat.
Quick Gun Murugan
Work toh is as usual....feeling much better now...but vid is not well now...once she is better she will share her story
Minks sent a wonderful article from WSJ yesterday....on how FB can ruining our real world relationships....I am sure all of us feel the same about a lot of people in our real lives....here is the link http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204660604574370450465849142.html#articleTabs%3Darticle
I know that social networking is supp to bring us closer etc...but I think where we go wrong is we mix personal, professional, social, family ethg on these sites...I mean once you add someone from work then cribbing about long working hours is not an option...once u add your cuz then a pic of you drinking cannot be put up and so on...I know there are times when I want my real friends to know that I had the most amazing chaat....but then sms is a much better medium I guess...and for the NRI's, I have this blog ;-)
This saturday toh is the first killer match of the EPL season...Arsenal vs Man U...the telecast timing, laziness and our age will ensure that we dont watch this match together...but irrespective, I hope it is a cracker....CG-6 ki team toh is already performing as per expectation....
I am reading 'In Spite of Gods' by Edward Luce these days...he was the earlier Financial Times correspondent for India...married to an Indian who works for the WB...the book was written in '06 and like most expat accounts, tries to expose the real India....read corrupt, casteist, under developed, illiterate etc etc...In case any of you are reading sthg, please recommend....like the ladies recommend TV shows ;-)
Back to work again guys....take care

hunting for a 2nd had TV and bsnl broadband
went to coimbatore (abt 90 km one way) to wtch kaminey. strtd at 8 in th mrng. rchd thr at 12:30 and came to know that its no longer showing in the theatre where it was released. so went to another theatre, whch happened to reliance's big cinemas. but the show was at 6:30 pm. so waited for almost 6 hours. had lunch, 2-3 rounds of coffee and other coolers, played wii and wht not to kill the time. and when i entered the hall, i felt as if i've entered a DTC bus. big cinema had the smallest hall i had ever seen. it was only 8-seats wide. 4 on either side. anyway, it was AC and the movie was good so didnt mind it.
in the process of getting a TV and internet connection now. will wtch all the videos mili and anubhav hav put.

yellooz
sorry been a lazy bum and didnt feel like writing in... and then thought sab ka yahi haal hoga toh then back to square one...plus mili and anubhav and vidya are putting in loads of effort so should do my little bit...
Options of tv- Lost-can get to you after season 3 though
House- seen the 1st episode today...quite interesting... all medical stuff.. but nothing like greys
Greys anatomy- for puri drama in english.. but awesome... it just holds u glued to the TV
Rome- i guess this is not going to be aired in India... but see the DVD's... all abt the time of Julius ceaser... very enjoyable, captivating... and you will not want to get up... i saw 22 episodes in 3 days.. pretty much non-stop
baaki- desperate housewives, old rereuns of sex and the city and ugly betty are fillers....
so now u guys know how entertaining my life is..;)
and a yr back i was crying for a break....hahahahaha
and Vidya-- abt the earthquakes... unfortunately i dont have an option abt living here...if i did i wouldnt be anyway near any earthquake, tsunami zone....apparently there is a BIG ONE that can come in the next 20 odd yrs... which will kill pretty much 50% of the population here... called the Tokai earthquake- you can wiki it for more info... just pray to god tht i dont see tht...coz tht will be crazy....
anubhav- how are u feeling... are u still quarantined.... or now free....
swine flu scare was crazy here...esp if someone who has travelled abroad comes visiting you and leaves your number as a contact point... but they are great at managing it at the airport itself-starting with thermal cameras...that pick up any sign of high body temp...
then they call after abt 5 days to inquire abt the travellers health... to check for any flu symptoms... and tell you to come to a clinic where they will give you appropriate medication....
anyhow the Japanese population is quite paranoid abt cold, cleanliness etc... khud cold hota hain toh mask pehenke ghoomte hain....
i hope things become slightly manageable in India... i have my sisters wedding and the last thing i want is anyone falling sick then.....
rest all well... recently had awesome biryani made by someone from lahore.... seekh kebabs and biryani ....
Mili- please keep some time off in delhi when you land...coz ill be there definitely..so we should catch up....
hows the rest of the junta.. are they alive or the corporate life has eaten them away....
im dying to see kaminey after reading tons of reviews... waiting for good pirated version.....
:)
anyhow.... take care guys... have a lovely week....
ciao
lost..

hey....
hey guys... after reading the posts i realised that i had been missing in action for a long long time.
First the Swine Flu update- Mill/Nidhi i guess u both are in countries where the first wave is almost over. In any case, just watch out for one symtpom. If anyone u know has fever and is breathless.. Run to the hosp. breathlessness means the lungs have been infected... it will become pneumonia..
Btw Nidhi, ur lionhearted!!! And I was worried about Delhi being a seismic zone!!! :) i'd run like hell if i were in an earth quake prone region.
Anyway.. i guess Anubhav and I should also start watching some serial, usually have nothing to do after coming from work.. I think TV channels conspire and show crappiest stuff when u have time to watch TV!! Khair...the choice is between Lost and Entourage.... wat say?
Its a working Saturday so i will leave in a bit. These days you have no clue what lies in store when u leave the house!!! The rains keep getting crazier each time... i was so glad the tree dint land on any car yesterday!! anyway;... gotto go now. BTW Today is GC's birthday... but the dad-to-be is spending it at work and then meeting family for dinner. We are all ageing at the speed of light! (dunno why that thought occured so suddenly!!!) anyway.. tchao!
When it rains in del

The weekend was interesting...saw Kaminey, The Hangover and New York...in the order of my liking....Vishal Bhardwaj gives us hope that spending Rs 225 on a ticket is not a bad idea....it is a very well made movie, though the climax did disappoint me a bit...not in the execution though...it has a mix of languages from Bangla to marathi to some afrikaans...without any sub titles except once...must watch movie in a long time
HT City has an article by Jaydeep Ghosh today which gives a new meaning to FB...according to him, gone are the days when the initials were used as a an acronym for facebook...now it is f**k buddies and the trend is catching up...he mentions that women mags have also started promoting the trend...i did know of a couple like this when I was with genesis but then I thought they were just being cool...times are changing quite fast
@Mili - when u come to India, can you check on the prices of the Nintendo Wii....will let you know well in advance if I need it...for how long are u coming
The rest is just the same....not feeling very well today and every cough is scary with the flu in the air...2 people in office have been coughing since last week, so maybe they have passed it on...lets see

How men (abroad) talk to their wives
Happy Independence Day guys!!! Lets hope this year is better than the last for India!!

Lord Krishna would have liked this
All kaminey in del
As the resident health journo predicted, Swine Flu is here to stay....and now the govt is trying to ease the panic by saying that it is just another disease...dont panic etc etc....
Aaj toh the drive to work was super sweet.....3/4th of the offices are shut due to janmashmtmi....so no traffic at all....the only silver lining of coming to work when the rest of the world is off on a long weekend
Chalo ji...back to work...happy Janmashtmi peoples, happy Independence Day in advance and enjoy the weekend

no kaminey in ooty
i know vidya it must be extremely boring to file the same story everyday. every job sucks. dont think too mch abt it. and anubhav, i hope u didnt upset ur stomach with those rayjma rice. kaminey was one movie i was waiting for. i mite ride down to b'lore (abt 7 hrs) to wtch it. faahid n piggy chops.
PS: iss computer ki space key kaam nahi kar rahi hai. maa ki $%&*#
Best swine flu joke
1100 people get swine flu and the entire world wants to wear a surgical mask. 20 million have AIDS but still nobody wants to wear a condom.
But jokes apart, swine flu is spreading quite fast....the resident health journalist says that since the symptoms are exactly like normal flu it is quite difficult to catch...and also, it is here to stay...for like a good 2-3 years....so everyone should be on high alert and not ignore any symptoms.
Mumbai and Pune toh have shut schools and multiplexes...airlines and hotels are sufrering too...lonavla has appealed to tourists to avoid coming during the aug 15th wkend...so in all not very good
Just one more day for the weekend....:-)

another fan :)
I literally stumbled onto lost when I was on abc's website checking out shows on a bored weekend..oh fish........after the first episode I watched all seasons back to back..I mean my frends had started saying that may be m appearing for a lost exam thats y I am onto it..and I just can't wait for the last season..
Anubhav my headaches are still the same.. I have just stopped thinking about them.they come and they go and come again wo warning..I had a lovely deal for dec tickets for 1100 dollars n my agent screwed it up an now the same ticket is costing 1500 dollars..wtf....
If I had to start explaining to Sandra what a dhoti is god save me..
M looking fwd to Kaminey too....
gotta get bk to work..m knee deep in it..
ciao guys
Anurag Kashyap's next
Is he also going the RGV way....I hope not...although I wont mind other guys making movies on Super Commando Dhruv or Nagraj :-)
After a hectic weekend, we were graced by CG-6 who was coming down from great heights....he had gone to Kullu,Manali and Leh....even Akshay and Vidya were in town....so it was good to catch up with them as well....Varsha was busy with the family so she dint come and CG-6 was too full so just had one beer and no food....who said marriage wont change him ;-)
@Nidhi - How come these developed countries have firework displays at every occassion and blame us for pollution on diwali :-)....and considering how earthqauke prone japan is, i think you experienced one quite late....I hope you dont have any more, but then such stories are good to tell when u come to india...the only earthquake I exp was the del one....in 2001 I think...and that also, I slept thru...not that I wanted to be awake thru one ;-)
@ Mills - Yaar yeh umrikans toh sab se fukre hain....but then what can u expect from a country which had Bush as prez for 8 years...maaf kar dete hain unhe....but I am glad ur having fun and can take out time to tell us the stories...how are ur headaches btw?...hope better....and ask Sandra to take a guess why dhotis are still the preferred garment for 70% of India...that might answer her question ;-)...or she has to visit the land of K'sutra(pun intended) to find an answer
Twitter is basically a micro blogging site, where u cannot post more than 140 chars....Mili, the ones which start with 'http' are the links which you can click on and read more details....it is good fun, but only if you want to keep a tab on news or your fav topics...not at all like FB or any social networking site....atleast in India, where the usage is quite low.
As far as Manoj ji is concerned....I dont know why but sms's dont reach him...ek toh he has taken such a tough number to remember...and he says this was the best one....somehow I have a mind block with numbers not starting with 98...they just dont seem like cell numbers too...including my official number....
My boss just called me to ask if I know the recipe of "Rayjma Rice"....she is getting that made for me today :-)....considering thats what I order every friday, its not tough to guess what I like....and my non fussy nature of liking very few veggies helps
Will get back to work now....saw LAK btw...on a DVD and trust me its not even worth the time...forget the money etc....deepika looks good but her yaccent is too much jee...and saif toh hasnt come out of the the 'hum tum' mould....rishi kapoor looks more foolish than ever...dont know why the sikhs protested against saif's look, they should have done that for rishi kapoor's look....all in all, complete waste of time....the movie of the year will be kaminey....aug 14th it is.
Quite a week
Ive had quite a week..... after the bday... (thanks a ton for the lovely wishes all of you) i thought i will start leading a better... more mature life...
but AHA..... i dont think i can..... akshay and me picked up DVD's of LOST...and there we got hooked to it.....
since then we have seen each and every episode of LOST.... on the 4th season now..... and pretty much back to back......
in between however i went a saw the fireworks at the Tokyo Bay.... they have about 80 min of fireworks.... on the bay to celebrate summer.... and its gorgeous.....
everyone and anyone who is in Tokyo goes around the bay... and sees the fireworks.... people come all dressed up in kimono's and yukatas.... get their food and beer... and sit around with family and friends and enjoy the 12000 boom factor spectacle...... and the team responsible doesn't let go very easily.... they are very innovative.. making hearts, smileys, carnations, shooting stars, mickey mouse bows, cats etc from the fireworks....
and of course the biggest and the loudest display gets all the WOW's from everyone... and trust me when you're sitting with so many ppl and suddenly every one goes WOW together...its awesome.....
anyway... so while seeing lost.... i experience my first earthquake... .and guys i mean it.. everything around me was shaking... water was moving... glasses were making the noise... i actually held on to the table coz i was scared..... and though initially i was laughing and excited later on i was scared....
and guess wat... again today on the morning at 5 there was an earthquake......
and i can confidently say im not looking forward to any more.....
@ mili- good to see you're having a blast... and don't worry... even i thought its Indians who run for free food and drinks..when i see the locals and even expats here who run for food and drinks... i cant help but laugh..... bas khana de do....life is perfect for them...
@ vidya- i can imagine how reporting for swine flu can be irritating.... but its becoming worse there right..... so you should be careful yourself....
@ kosal- buddy im happy you're enjoying you're new life....hope you're doing a great job of the assignments...and you make all of us proud.... send us some nice snaps of ooty.. ive always wanted to go there..... and if i remember correctly mithun chakroborty has a big hotel there... so maybe u bump into him there.....;)
so now i get back to my LOST... have some breakfast.... and pray for earthquake free stay in japan.....
enjoy ure day...

Dirty Linen Night
Hope you have a fun and uneventful weekend!
I had a good weekend too in New Orleans style..
Friday evening was dinner at a frends place. thanks to one of my frend who is leaving for Baltimore for Phd I get invited to all his good bye dinners..
And Saturday I went for the Dirty Linen Night. Nola is full of parties and I think they don't need an excuse for a party. So Dirty Linen Night is basically in response to the White Linen Night that takes a week before. Since Aug is a slow month for Nola in terms of tourists (owing to the hurricane and all) the New Orlenas Art warehouse association holds white linen night on Juliet street where all the art galleries are free and open to the public. You get good deals at the art work of famous and budding artists, you also get to see artists showing their work right there. Juliet street has some of the most expensive and famous art galleries of nola so the street is closed and it almost is a pedestrian mall where you can venture around galleries. People have to wear white (I don't know why except maybe cuz its classy) and there is great music and stuff..
Dirty linen night started 8 years back as a response to white linen where galleries at the Royal street said why should we miss out on this and so they named it dirty linen night. People are encouraged to wear the same linen they wore for white linen which is stained with wine and dirty and come and have fun..
Now the great thing bout dirty linen is tht the galleries serve free wine and food..So Sandra (my frend) and me had tons of white wine, then red, then champagne, then there was a beer keg, also free pizza..so all in all its fun..We checked out some of the most amazing art stuff and ofcourse I kept on getting wine glasses for Sandra..for every glass Sandra had to say "isn't it awesum to be having free liquor" ?? Well..me not being quite a drinker dint have much to say but I must tell you Americans have sumthing about free food and liquour..they will go any place, wud do nything for free food..I mean I know Indians have this whole thing bout free liquor too but its a bit too much with Americans..they would help you move ur stuff if you have beer to offer them..they wud come to ur temple gathering not understanding a word but cuz there is free dinner after the sermons..they would call u up and say lets go to this place..hey cuz there is free food..
Also it was the red dress run day in nola on saturday morning, so in the evening when we went for dirty linen there were men all over dressed in red dresses and sneakers..the history of red dress run is a bit too long to be writing here so you can google it if interested to know..what I can tell you is that men and women dress up in red dresses and when I say dresses I mean dresses..u wil see men in red skirts, frocks, long dresses and sneakers and they run a trail of almost five miles and so the end is celebrated with crazy amount of beer in the end..so french quarter where dirty linen happened was swarmed by men in red..I will put sum pics on facebook for you guys to see...
tht was a good weekend..
and I saw the ugly truth on thurday last week which was an amusing movie..the script seemed to be "inspired" from one of the hindi movies..guy helps the gal trap another guy cuz she likes him and in the process falls for her himself..but it was funny...it was definitely a raunchy comedy with a lot of penis and vagina thrown in but it was fun...I think it released in India and if any of you gals like Gerard Butler then u must not miss the movie..
speaking of which at the cost of sounding crass, Sandra asked me if Indian men are good in bed and verbatim her question was "Mills I have heard brown men have small p....".. Is that true?? Are they good in bed?? When she comes up with these kind of questions out of the blues I have to collect my thoughts before I answer her..
@Anubhav: I can only see your twitter updates but can not access it..Is there an article you have been writing there or is it just an update..M clueless about Twitter and m sure that shows..
@Kaushal: Good to know you are having a good time..how did the assignment on sunday go? Did you do a good job? and may be if you started cooking urself you wouldn have to eat out every day..
OK people..enuf for today..
catch up with u later..

Back 2 work after a whirlwind trip to bhopal
Aawww kaushal... mera dil paseej gaya!! Was immaging u in a cyber cafe.. bad keyboard.. no electricity, language barrier!!!
i guess m unnesserily getting senti.. Even i have also u caught huffing and puffing a couple of times... sure ur having a great time!
Nothing new in delhi..bad weather, power cuts... traffic jams. all the same! we are planning to watch some movie this weekend.. either hangover or LAK... hopefully next weekend will be more interesting..thanks to kameeney..if we plan ahead we can watch it together.. wat say Divya?
Baaki nothing else to update.. waiting for husband to reach delhi....filling my zillionth H1N1 story this week. Its boring filling the same story everyday but i guess exciting for me might mean more deaths, mutated virus strains and scary stuff like that! So, its better boring and uneventful than interesting and eventful.
Anyway.. tata..deadline time
no tamil, only inglish saar
weather is great here. and people are also pretty nice. yaar yeh cafe ke keyboard mein saala "N" kaam hi nahi kar raha. bchod 10 baar dabana padta hai. anyway, mast north indian khaane ke liye ek adda dhoodh liya hai - "pankaj bhojanalaya". serves good marwari food. btw, evrybdy here calls a parantha, "parota".........and there are scores of such words. so im having my share of fun. my bike is coming on monday hopefully. the ooty will rock :-) thanks anubhav, for all the pain u took. oh btw, abhi abhi naya nmbr liya hai. will msg in the evng. writing it here is no fun. and its not safe also. adam-teasing u know ;-)

K update
His beloved bike is on the way to Ooty....and he has almost finalised a house...being the good friend he is, the house he has chosen has enough space and loos to accomodate guests, with a small lawn and all....he is still using the del number and plans to get a local one by the weekend...classes have started....but most of time that I have called.....he picks up the call heaving and panting, out of breath types....so I am sure he is enjoying the class ;-)
CG-6 and Manwanis are expected to be in town over the weekend but both Vid and I are in bhopal....like I told CG-6 last time...everyone meeting at one go, is almost impossible....esp when visiting guests refuse to answer any calls and are busy having beer at the Beer Garden ;-)...so hope the rest of you can catch up
These days we have an Eddie Izzard night every day, thank you Divya :-)
Has anyone seen Public Enemies already...Johnny Depp movie which releases tomorrow in India....maybe worth a watcg after dumb movies like Kambakht Ishq and LAK....the success of these movies just reflects on the audience...we are going the US way as well anything....if the mktg is good, we buy the product...quality anyways is subjective :-)
Read a very interesting article on the new texting lingo....will paste a link if I find it online...just to make all of us realise our real age

Party tonight
@ Divya - It is a terribly depressing movie....I dont understand why u guys continue to watch these movies...as the HC told our fighing MP's - the remote is in your hand, dont watch it :-)....I know the radio really had bad songs in the morning...anyways, plz msg what would u like to drink...I have a couple of beers, vodka and bacardi at home
@ Mili - Why dont u get the tests done for the headaches...I would like to think ur missing India and K, but still its better to confirm :-)...or send Vid the symptoms and she can fwd it to someone for an opinion
Getting back into training..ta pplz
When thursday feels like a monday...
Woke up in the worst mood ever..I guess its a combination of sleeping late and watching a very disturbing movie last night. We saw something called Matribhoomi yesterday - directed by Manish Jha. Not sure if you guys have seen it - it's a story about female infanticide, a village without any women and how the lone eligible girl is married off to five brothers and the exploitation she undergoes. Decently made but again very very depressing and disturbing.
I listen to radio ever morning while doing household chores and that usually keeps my spirits high...but just today, all channels without fail kept playing the crappiest music ever- that didn't help either!
And the icing on my already rotten cake was a client meeting that i just got back from. Met this fat, not so pretty tobacco chewing woman who was a dyke for sure, rude and basically very unpleasant. I almost wanted the meeting to end as soon as it started.Lets see if the day changes for the better soon. And i'm really wishing it will end on a good note as we are meeting Kosal, Anubhav, Vidya, Aabhas and maybe Mufti. Should be fun. I think i want to drink tonight...
Damn the thursday morning bluessssss...damn!

Wss up
Divya@good to see ur post
seems like in all everyone had a good weekend...mine was chilled out too..some cooking, helping a frend move her stuff to her new apt, trip to the gurudwara on sunday..
at work now and seems like my head will burst..i soooooooooo hate these headaches..
BTW I loved the place that I saw in the PDF file that divya sent..it was awesum..holiday and me don't go hand in hand..Abhi toh india aane ka time mil jaaye woh hi bahut hai..
read an interesting blog today on sum show called "sach ka saamna"..sounded so spooky..
had heard some odd conversations about it among the desi frends last weekend but never gave it an ear..but coming back to the blog it seemed interesting (the blog not the show)..and I will go home today and see what its all about..another reality gimmick??
nyways nidhs@ i see all my hindi movies online too thanks to bhejafry and mufttv :)
the theatre that plays hindi movies here is too far off and u gotta ask a ride from someone plus its worse than a theatre in any of the small towns in india..but if these guys give a gud review bout kaminey then we would go..

Indian superstars
SA: Who is this singer, Ameer Kaan (gets it right in the 3rd attempt)? I see him a lot dancing in music videos and on Tata Sky?
Ind 1: No no he is not a singer, the singer is A R Rahman...the guy from South India who won the Oscar for Jai Ho (pride in his voice)...have u heard the song
SA: No No, I know AR Rahman...this guy is Ameer Kaan....the one who got a weird hair cut for his film, Gajeeni (struggling again with the name)
Ind 2: Ya ya, that is aamir khan but he is not a singer...he is a crorepati film actor...has lot of money (pride again)
SA: Oh...but if he is not a singer than why does he do so many songs (surprised)...every hour I see him on Tata Sky
Ind 1: That is 'coz he is their brand ambassador...that is how these guys make money ('andar ki baat hai' tone)...
SA: like Shah Khan (happy that he got it right first time)...or what his hame
Ind 2: Yes yes Shah rukh khan...you know he recently bought 6 floors in a building in Park lane in London....and u know the reason...'coz till his dad was alive they lived in a rented house and now he wants to have house in every major city (incredulous)
Ind 1: He belongs to del....worked in a serial Fauji on Doordarshan(the world famous channel, every1 knows it) and then in another called Circus (who could have missed that) and now he is a super star
SA: How did he become a super star suddenly (amazed)...how did he start
Ind 2: He was a theatre actor in DU...and then he worked in tv serials and now he is a super star (so simple,eh)
Ind 1: His is a classical rags to riches story(finally used a cliche)....no money, no house and now everything...
SA: I must be doing sthg wrong...how come I am not earning money (laughing)
Ind 1: You must start doing sthg in bollywood...thats how he became rich (earnest response)
SA: Should I move to mumbai then....del doesnt seem to be a good option (continuing the joke)
Ind 2: No no, like I said SRK is also from delhi...and u know the Singh is King guy, Akshay Kumar (who doesnt)...he is also from del..old del...used to be a waiter in a lane which sells only parathas (really)...and a black belt(scary)...and now he owns bungalows(wow, dont tell me)
And SA gets a call...so the conversation is interrupted.

my day off :)
Did nothing at all other than that.....
Got up at 6 am to drop K to the railway station ( thankless guy!! Atleast he cant complain about dropping/picking me anymore)
Spoke to Akshay.. they are coming over next weekend.. so m hoping everyone gets together . I guess from now on all of us will have to arrange our social calenders accd. to outstation guests... its becoming increasingly difficult considering almost everyone is outstation!
K has also done his time in Delhi.. few more days left....in all honesty m gonna miss that idiot a lot. Already miss him actually!
Anyway... have some friends over for dinner. so i'll get back to my lemongrass/ginger chicken.

Weather News
The monsoon has raised hopes of bridging the considerable rainfall deficit with favourable conditions for Kharif sowings.
Reports of good rains were received from Kolhapur and Satara also with a 4 ft rise in the Koyna dam water level, official sources said today.
The Meteorological department here attributed revival of the monsoon in interior Maharashtra to the low pressure area formed over Bay of Bengal and predicted continuation of heavy showers in the next 24 hours.
With so much being written abt rains in delhi, just thot i would update on the H2O scene in the western region. I could well imagine how much it rained in delhi by how much has been blogged abt it.
Anubhav tht Karachi stuff was funny.....
Kaushal ....for you ........go on this link....www.indianaturewatch.net....go to "mammals"......goto "eye of the tiger".......the photographs clicked are by Vinay Subramaniam...on his trip to Ranthambore....nd they are unbelievable....
Vidya...stop tht "look what i found" ..stuff......

Delhi gets rain.....and how
It was unbelievably crazy....From my house to the chirag dilli flyover it took me 35 minutes....I was on my way to a friend's house (where I am never going again, next time there may be an earth quake) in VK and it took me an hour....and once I was there, I was like - it feels so good and finally it rained etc etc....I left for home at 10....and reached at 11.50....tried all possible routes but each was worse than the previous...metro construction helped block all short cuts and turn roads into rivers...really missed my Safari when I saw a scorpio cruise thru the rivers, splashing every1 else on the road....at essex, there were atleast 4 cars and 2 buses floating....people started walking back home...and maybe mumbai is used to it, but in del if you see people leaving their cars and walk you do get scared (to put it mildly, without abuses)...
Had it been any of my earlier co's, I might have come late to work today...citing maniacal traffic trauma....but then I have realised that when u work with expats, you are an employee later but a representative of ur country first ;-)....ethg becomes another excuse to blame India....I mean all of us love to hate the country sometimes too...but then thats just a good topic for conversation....nothing personal na....
Breaking news: K was supp to take the 07.20 shatabdi home and the train is only 2 hours late....poor guy has been sitting at the stn since 7 am, w/o his camera....
I still hope rains continue but with lil pre-conditions....rains only after 10 pm and all of us at home with a hot cup or a tall glass, thinking about poor sods like me who were stuck in traffic ;-)

Hola ppl!!
My first post on this blog after almost 3 years!!! Feels great to go through all the old posts..some of them go back to the same year when Amit & I got married...Nice Nice!! Realised last week that the blog was live and kicking but due to some technical glitches I could only read the posts and not write in. Thanks to the invite from YAITSME :-) ab hum likh aur padh dono saktein hain.
This weekend was a real bummer...mills/ Gulia (Hello to you guys btw) - no weekend plans materialised. But this time it was largely my doing...didn't plan properly earlier and then some relatives showed up at the last minute so had to call off the whole thing. On sunday we were shuttling between Delhi-Gurgaon-Indrapuram so no rest either. I'm already looking frwrd to the next weekend.
Kosal - me sorry that your farewell soiree didn't turn out the way we planned. But I promise we'll make up for it this week. I'm told CH-6 is here on Friday. So definitely doing something on Thursday/ Friday.
Mills/ NG..I'm glad you guys are a part of this. Since most of the group is spread all across now..it doesn't matter if you're in a different state or continent..the regular posts just make u feel more connected...wah wah- very profound!!
And Mills very proud of you for making 100 phulkas. I'm a fairly decent cook myself but completely suck at making phulka/ paranatha and the likes. 100 is really something!!
Vids..welcome back babes..Hope you're well rested now after your weekend cleaning expedition. Lets all meet this week for sure...and ya..i'll be waiting for my fridge magnet :-)
I think its pouring outside..will sign off now step out for a coffee break. Hope to be more regular with blog thing..see u all soon :-)

how was your farewell party for kaushal.... finally did you guys manage to go someplace or not...
and wat reviews for kaminey... atleast mili can watch Hindi movies in theater.... yahan toh release bhi nahin hoti theater mein..... sab online pirated version dekho ya phir wait for DVD release.......
mon is a slow day even though everyday is a sunday for me....
you guys enjoy your week..
Bollywood goes hi tech
That fabulous apartment in Dostana, with the Miami skyline as a backdrop, New York’s memorable shots of the Big Apple, or those 50,000 fans cheering the Chak De girls in the grand finale... were never there.
Otherwise, why would a film shot in Philadelphia, go under the name of New York and become the biggest hit so far this year? Or one shot in Jaipur goes as Delhi-6 , while almost 50% of Karan Johar’s genre-changing Dostana, with its Miami based storyline, is shot in Mumbai’s film city.
On cost, Chak De is a super case. Shot over two months in Australia, across stadiums, a live shoot would have required at least 10,000 people for those many days as spectators in the stadium. With an artist’s rate at $80 to $100 a day, the cost would have been huge

For Anubhav's sake...
The house was a royal mess!!! Everything was under layers of dust!!! Things were growing on clothes as (for some unexplainable reason) my husband refused to get them washed!!
So when I landed, dog tired, he had just enough work to keep me occupied for days!!
And yes, the maid was at the receiving end (because the man i married does nothing and poor maid suffers)
PS: Girls, what do you think about Anubhav not even coming to receive me, after promising that he would!!
back to the grind.. AND LOVING IT EVERY BIT!
Hey guys!!!
I was reading the old blogs. Just realized that we have all come a long way. Also that some things do not change.
Anubhav is still the one trying hard to keep the blog alive J (closely assisted by Nidhi ofcourse) I hope history does not repeat itself and we can all do some serious blogging this time!
Nidhi/Mili- its good to have you guys back in our everyday things. Feels like old times.
Kaushal- M never gng to within a mile of the airport with u!! U come with a fucking garland to receive ppl!!!!
Anubhav- Where did u say you found that ‘Karachi se’ video?
Well enough gyaan. Now about Cape Town.
a) They have penguins there!!! I never knew Southern hemisphere had penguins!!
They also have rather unfriendly Ostriches, baboons (nasty ones) and disgusting ghekkos….
b) I think sometime in the history, all African women gathered around and decided to wage a war against fabrics!! So even when it is freezing, they keep as far as they can from clothes, using it to the minimum!! Take for example Lola (friendly neighbourhood restaurateur where I had most of my dinners)!!! When I was wearing two layers of sweaters, jackets, ear muffs and gloves, Lola wore NOTHING but a micro mini top which barely covered her tits. BARELY!! You should know that Lola is super fat!!! And all the while starved, ill-mannered and not-so-subtle Pakistani journos kept drooling onto their plates, hoping for her boobs to pop out or something!!
c) God alone knows what the entire world has against water!!! Water is more expensive than aerated drinks!!! Morons!
d) It is a city filled with thugs and goons!!! Shops close at 4 pm, people disappear by 6. At 8, the streets are positively out of bounds!!
All that being said, it really is a beautiful, beautiful city. Cant say that enough!! I went to the table top mountain, to all the waterfronts. The high point ofcourse was where Africa ends- The Cape of Good Hope!! You have to see it to believe it. At one point, the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet and it is so overwhelming to stand there, on the tip of that cliff.
I stood there for 20 mins.. just looking into the sea….. the cape of good hope comes under the Table Mountain National Park, again beautiful and nothing like the forests we find in India.
Personally, my high point was meeting Dele Olojede- the journalist who won the Pulitzer for a series on the Rwandan genocide. Brilliant guy.
Anyway, I came back with lots of fridge magnets J so those in Delhi please decide the venue soon.
Sat has just begun
Just got out of bed and enjoying the morning cuppa...Went to bed at 3 last nite after an awesum dinner of palak daal and paneer masala, which I did not cook..Was invited to a frend's house who is a very good cook..its not so fun sumtimes to be the only girl in your gang and yest nite it was 4 doctors, and one chemical engineering doctorate so you could imagine how hard I would have tried to turn the tide of the conversation at points but gave up :)
Yeah I know Kaushal cuz he would laugh at me for getting senti at people who sell stuff at traffic intersections and buying it too..and he never cribbed much about del traffic, mind you delhi..and cribbed loads wen it came to ghaziabad traffic..I so wish he was this good a driver when I was there :)
this seems to be a interaction only bw dada, nidhs, kaushal and me..where are the others..but chalo theek hai..aa jayenge AT SUM POINT IN TIME
pls let me know how kaminey turns out to be and then I would decide if I am spending 10 dollars in the theatre or not. There is one old theatre here which plays hindi movies and I havent been to it yet..Thought would go for kaminey..that reminds me Indian Ocean is playing in NOLA in Aug and I am going for it :) Also I got my ticket yest for my first ever SAINTS game in the Superdome. Now I can atleast say that I have watched a Saints game staying here :)
I agree Iphone is good but there are more phones in the market that would do a similar job like the Iphone does..Aur abhi toh vaise bhi I think they are out with the new model so they have dropped the prices of Iphone. I am eligible for an Iphone upgrade in Jan 2010 so waiting to get a new phone then :) For now I am using the phone Kaushal got me but the band and network seems to be a problem. Though it works here but signal reception aint' great. I miss india again.you can just walk in and buy a phone. Here unless you are buying a plan, phones are freakingly expensive...
Ok people..hope you are having a dancing nite..I have to help a frend move today and then cook for her. As she puts it Meelee can you cook chicken teeeeka for me :) well not chicken teeeka but will feed her some chickpeas and paneer..have fun people...
nidhs@ what you doing for sat nite??
Another working sat
Wife is back....tho very tired...but not 'coz of the flight....'coz she got up at 7am in the morning and took the maid's class....A resignation is in the pipeline...I wont steal her thunder and she can tell you guys about how her trip was.
K aajkal aise bohat se nek kaam karta hai....since its K its not restricted to girls only....yes he gets senti sometimes...and Mili it is cool....not all women know him as well as u do ;-)
Weekend seems to be disapp by the second...though we seem to be having a consensus on the dancing tonight....most prob it will be Howzzat at ggn....Divya had recommended it long time back but somehow we nev went there....as K put it, since we are a nuclear family now it might be easy to decide on a place...but like all other things, its not final till we dont return from Howzzat
Kal CG-6 also called K....his dog has become a father...so plz join me in congratulating the dog...
The new movies which released today - Luck, Night at the Museum, have got terrible reviews....I dont judge them by reviews only but the story sounds crap...I think the next must watch will be Kaminey...aug 14th it releases in India
Now going to see a new phone for wife, as suggested by the PR Manager for Nokia (she lies that she is in HR) and a laptop for K as suggested by the most hardworking HP employee....ta guys....have a nice wkend...
