dullest day ever!!!

such a boring boring day... at work i feel like murdering a few people. Stories are not working out.. the ones that are working out aren't qualifying as a story for my boss..so all in all .. quite eventless.
M thinking i should join swimming classes... need to cut the flab!
Atleast have something to do in the evening...anyway..ta

Party tonight

Heyloz....yes today it is confirmed that we are meeting....CG-6 has kept us in the dark still...with promises that he will definitely be there...but then we know his promises and also that he has changed...the venue will most prob be my house (which doesnt have an A/c in the living room) or K's (which doesnt have chairs)....One day last week, he climbed on his baby(thats what he calls Sekhar) while baby was on the chair...and the over flowing passion melted the chair and its legs gave way...I had turned my back on them, ignoring sekhar's cries(pain/pleasure) but the loud bang made me turn...and the sight was not a pleasant one ;-)

@ Divya - It is a terribly depressing movie....I dont understand why u guys continue to watch these movies...as the HC told our fighing MP's - the remote is in your hand, dont watch it :-)....I know the radio really had bad songs in the morning...anyways, plz msg what would u like to drink...I have a couple of beers, vodka and bacardi at home

@ Mili - Why dont u get the tests done for the headaches...I would like to think ur missing India and K, but still its better to confirm :-)...or send Vid the symptoms and she can fwd it to someone for an opinion

Getting back into training..ta pplz

When thursday feels like a monday...

It's Thursday morning and precisely one more day left before the weekend kicks in and yet I'm at my grouchiest best :-X
Woke up in the worst mood ever..I guess its a combination of sleeping late and watching a very disturbing movie last night. We saw something called Matribhoomi yesterday - directed by Manish Jha. Not sure if you guys have seen it - it's a story about female infanticide, a village without any women and how the lone eligible girl is married off to five brothers and the exploitation she undergoes. Decently made but again very very depressing and disturbing.
I listen to radio ever morning while doing household chores and that usually keeps my spirits high...but just today, all channels without fail kept playing the crappiest music ever- that didn't help either!
And the icing on my already rotten cake was a client meeting that i just got back from. Met this fat, not so pretty tobacco chewing woman who was a dyke for sure, rude and basically very unpleasant. I almost wanted the meeting to end as soon as it started.Lets see if the day changes for the better soon. And i'm really wishing it will end on a good note as we are meeting Kosal, Anubhav, Vidya, Aabhas and maybe Mufti. Should be fun. I think i want to drink tonight...

Damn the thursday morning bluessssss...damn!

Indian superstars

Interesting conversation between one South African and two Indians on Indian stars who have a rag to riches story:

SA: Who is this singer, Ameer Kaan (gets it right in the 3rd attempt)? I see him a lot dancing in music videos and on Tata Sky?

Ind 1: No no he is not a singer, the singer is A R Rahman...the guy from South India who won the Oscar for Jai Ho (pride in his voice)...have u heard the song

SA: No No, I know AR Rahman...this guy is Ameer Kaan....the one who got a weird hair cut for his film, Gajeeni (struggling again with the name)

Ind 2: Ya ya, that is aamir khan but he is not a singer...he is a crorepati film actor...has lot of money (pride again)

SA: Oh...but if he is not a singer than why does he do so many songs (surprised)...every hour I see him on Tata Sky

Ind 1: That is 'coz he is their brand ambassador...that is how these guys make money ('andar ki baat hai' tone)...

SA: like Shah Khan (happy that he got it right first time)...or what his hame

Ind 2: Yes yes Shah rukh khan...you know he recently bought 6 floors in a building in Park lane in London....and u know the reason...'coz till his dad was alive they lived in a rented house and now he wants to have house in every major city (incredulous)

Ind 1: He belongs to del....worked in a serial Fauji on Doordarshan(the world famous channel, every1 knows it) and then in another called Circus (who could have missed that) and now he is a super star

SA: How did he become a super star suddenly (amazed)...how did he start

Ind 2: He was a theatre actor in DU...and then he worked in tv serials and now he is a super star (so simple,eh)

Ind 1: His is a classical rags to riches story(finally used a cliche)....no money, no house and now everything...

SA: I must be doing sthg wrong...how come I am not earning money (laughing)

Ind 1: You must start doing sthg in bollywood...thats how he became rich (earnest response)

SA: Should I move to mumbai then....del doesnt seem to be a good option (continuing the joke)

Ind 2: No no, like I said SRK is also from delhi...and u know the Singh is King guy, Akshay Kumar (who doesnt)...he is also from del..old del...used to be a waiter in a lane which sells only parathas (really)...and a black belt(scary)...and now he owns bungalows(wow, dont tell me)

And SA gets a call...so the conversation is interrupted.

my day off :)

and so i cleaned!!! and then cleaned a little more!
Did nothing at all other than that.....
Got up at 6 am to drop K to the railway station ( thankless guy!! Atleast he cant complain about dropping/picking me anymore)
Spoke to Akshay.. they are coming over next weekend.. so m hoping everyone gets together . I guess from now on all of us will have to arrange our social calenders accd. to outstation guests... its becoming increasingly difficult considering almost everyone is outstation!
K has also done his time in Delhi.. few more days left....in all honesty m gonna miss that idiot a lot. Already miss him actually!
Anyway... have some friends over for dinner. so i'll get back to my lemongrass/ginger chicken.

Weather News

Heavy rains lashed Pune and many parts of Western Maharashtra this morning, reviving the wet spell in the region.
The monsoon has raised hopes of bridging the considerable rainfall deficit with favourable conditions for Kharif sowings.
Reports of good rains were received from Kolhapur and Satara also with a 4 ft rise in the Koyna dam water level, official sources said today.
The Meteorological department here attributed revival of the monsoon in interior Maharashtra to the low pressure area formed over Bay of Bengal and predicted continuation of heavy showers in the next 24 hours.

With so much being written abt rains in delhi, just thot i would update on the H2O scene in the western region. I could well imagine how much it rained in delhi by how much has been blogged abt it.
Anubhav tht Karachi stuff was funny.....
Kaushal ....for you ........go on this link....www.indianaturewatch.net....go to "mammals"......goto "eye of the tiger".......the photographs clicked are by Vinay Subramaniam...on his trip to Ranthambore....nd they are unbelievable....

Vidya...stop tht "look what i found" ..stuff......

Bravery or stupidity

Shocking images...A school near Chennai did this show to mark some stupid b'day celebrations of K Kamaraj

Delhi gets rain.....and how

Yesterday evening seemed like Rain Gods were fed up of the millions of Delhites asking for rain everyday....so they got up and just shut everyone up...it rained for 4 hours and I happened to be on the road for three of those lucky hours....the papers claim that 69mm is what it rained in 4 hours and normally delhi gets that in a month....so then all the blocked roads, floating cars, people walking back home is expected na....not when you are in the car for 2 hours when it takes you 20 mins everyday

It was unbelievably crazy....From my house to the chirag dilli flyover it took me 35 minutes....I was on my way to a friend's house (where I am never going again, next time there may be an earth quake) in VK and it took me an hour....and once I was there, I was like - it feels so good and finally it rained etc etc....I left for home at 10....and reached at 11.50....tried all possible routes but each was worse than the previous...metro construction helped block all short cuts and turn roads into rivers...really missed my Safari when I saw a scorpio cruise thru the rivers, splashing every1 else on the road....at essex, there were atleast 4 cars and 2 buses floating....people started walking back home...and maybe mumbai is used to it, but in del if you see people leaving their cars and walk you do get scared (to put it mildly, without abuses)...

Had it been any of my earlier co's, I might have come late to work today...citing maniacal traffic trauma....but then I have realised that when u work with expats, you are an employee later but a representative of ur country first ;-)....ethg becomes another excuse to blame India....I mean all of us love to hate the country sometimes too...but then thats just a good topic for conversation....nothing personal na....

Breaking news: K was supp to take the 07.20 shatabdi home and the train is only 2 hours late....poor guy has been sitting at the stn since 7 am, w/o his camera....

I still hope rains continue but with lil pre-conditions....rains only after 10 pm and all of us at home with a hot cup or a tall glass, thinking about poor sods like me who were stuck in traffic ;-)

Hola ppl!!

Hola ppl...

My first post on this blog after almost 3 years!!! Feels great to go through all the old posts..some of them go back to the same year when Amit & I got married...Nice Nice!! Realised last week that the blog was live and kicking but due to some technical glitches I could only read the posts and not write in. Thanks to the invite from YAITSME :-) ab hum likh aur padh dono saktein hain.

This weekend was a real bummer...mills/ Gulia (Hello to you guys btw) - no weekend plans materialised. But this time it was largely my doing...didn't plan properly earlier and then some relatives showed up at the last minute so had to call off the whole thing. On sunday we were shuttling between Delhi-Gurgaon-Indrapuram so no rest either. I'm already looking frwrd to the next weekend.

Kosal - me sorry that your farewell soiree didn't turn out the way we planned. But I promise we'll make up for it this week. I'm told CH-6 is here on Friday. So definitely doing something on Thursday/ Friday.

Mills/ NG..I'm glad you guys are a part of this. Since most of the group is spread all across now..it doesn't matter if you're in a different state or continent..the regular posts just make u feel more connected...wah wah- very profound!!

And Mills very proud of you for making 100 phulkas. I'm a fairly decent cook myself but completely suck at making phulka/ paranatha and the likes. 100 is really something!!

Vids..welcome back babes..Hope you're well rested now after your weekend cleaning expedition. Lets all meet this week for sure...and ya..i'll be waiting for my fridge magnet :-)

I think its pouring outside..will sign off now step out for a coffee break. Hope to be more regular with blog thing..see u all soon :-)

Bollywood goes hi tech

Interesting article on how B'wood is turning the dream world into a hi tech dream world....

That fabulous apartment in Dostana, with the Miami skyline as a backdrop, New York’s memorable shots of the Big Apple, or those 50,000 fans cheering the Chak De girls in the grand finale... were never there.

Otherwise, why would a film shot in Philadelphia, go under the name of New York and become the biggest hit so far this year? Or one shot in Jaipur goes as Delhi-6 , while almost 50% of Karan Johar’s genre-changing Dostana, with its Miami based storyline, is shot in Mumbai’s film city.

On cost, Chak De is a super case. Shot over two months in Australia, across stadiums, a live shoot would have required at least 10,000 people for those many days as spectators in the stadium. With an artist’s rate at $80 to $100 a day, the cost would have been huge

For Anubhav's sake...

Dint wanna disappoint Anubhav, so here goes.
The house was a royal mess!!! Everything was under layers of dust!!! Things were growing on clothes as (for some unexplainable reason) my husband refused to get them washed!!
So when I landed, dog tired, he had just enough work to keep me occupied for days!!
And yes, the maid was at the receiving end (because the man i married does nothing and poor maid suffers)

PS: Girls, what do you think about Anubhav not even coming to receive me, after promising that he would!!

back to the grind.. AND LOVING IT EVERY BIT!

Hey guys!!!
I was reading the old blogs. Just realized that we have all come a long way. Also that some things do not change.

Anubhav is still the one trying hard to keep the blog alive J (closely assisted by Nidhi ofcourse) I hope history does not repeat itself and we can all do some serious blogging this time!

Nidhi/Mili- its good to have you guys back in our everyday things. Feels like old times.
Kaushal- M never gng to within a mile of the airport with u!! U come with a fucking garland to receive ppl!!!!
Anubhav- Where did u say you found that ‘Karachi se’ video?

Well enough gyaan. Now about Cape Town.

a) They have penguins there!!! I never knew Southern hemisphere had penguins!!
They also have rather unfriendly Ostriches, baboons (nasty ones) and disgusting ghekkos….

b) I think sometime in the history, all African women gathered around and decided to wage a war against fabrics!! So even when it is freezing, they keep as far as they can from clothes, using it to the minimum!! Take for example Lola (friendly neighbourhood restaurateur where I had most of my dinners)!!! When I was wearing two layers of sweaters, jackets, ear muffs and gloves, Lola wore NOTHING but a micro mini top which barely covered her tits. BARELY!! You should know that Lola is super fat!!! And all the while starved, ill-mannered and not-so-subtle Pakistani journos kept drooling onto their plates, hoping for her boobs to pop out or something!!

c) God alone knows what the entire world has against water!!! Water is more expensive than aerated drinks!!! Morons!

d) It is a city filled with thugs and goons!!! Shops close at 4 pm, people disappear by 6. At 8, the streets are positively out of bounds!!

All that being said, it really is a beautiful, beautiful city. Cant say that enough!! I went to the table top mountain, to all the waterfronts. The high point ofcourse was where Africa ends- The Cape of Good Hope!! You have to see it to believe it. At one point, the Atlantic and Indian oceans meet and it is so overwhelming to stand there, on the tip of that cliff.
I stood there for 20 mins.. just looking into the sea….. the cape of good hope comes under the Table Mountain National Park, again beautiful and nothing like the forests we find in India.

Personally, my high point was meeting Dele Olojede- the journalist who won the Pulitzer for a series on the Rwandan genocide. Brilliant guy.

Anyway, I came back with lots of fridge magnets J so those in Delhi please decide the venue soon.

Sat has just begun

Hi people..

Just got out of bed and enjoying the morning cuppa...Went to bed at 3 last nite after an awesum dinner of palak daal and paneer masala, which I did not cook..Was invited to a frend's house who is a very good cook..its not so fun sumtimes to be the only girl in your gang and yest nite it was 4 doctors, and one chemical engineering doctorate so you could imagine how hard I would have tried to turn the tide of the conversation at points but gave up :)

Yeah I know Kaushal cuz he would laugh at me for getting senti at people who sell stuff at traffic intersections and buying it too..and he never cribbed much about del traffic, mind you delhi..and cribbed loads wen it came to ghaziabad traffic..I so wish he was this good a driver when I was there :)

this seems to be a interaction only bw dada, nidhs, kaushal and me..where are the others..but chalo theek hai..aa jayenge AT SUM POINT IN TIME

pls let me know how kaminey turns out to be and then I would decide if I am spending 10 dollars in the theatre or not. There is one old theatre here which plays hindi movies and I havent been to it yet..Thought would go for kaminey..that reminds me Indian Ocean is playing in NOLA in Aug and I am going for it :) Also I got my ticket yest for my first ever SAINTS game in the Superdome. Now I can atleast say that I have watched a Saints game staying here :)

I agree Iphone is good but there are more phones in the market that would do a similar job like the Iphone does..Aur abhi toh vaise bhi I think they are out with the new model so they have dropped the prices of Iphone. I am eligible for an Iphone upgrade in Jan 2010 so waiting to get a new phone then :) For now I am using the phone Kaushal got me but the band and network seems to be a problem. Though it works here but signal reception aint' great. I miss india again.you can just walk in and buy a phone. Here unless you are buying a plan, phones are freakingly expensive...

Ok people..hope you are having a dancing nite..I have to help a frend move today and then cook for her. As she puts it Meelee can you cook chicken teeeeka for me :) well not chicken teeeka but will feed her some chickpeas and paneer..have fun people...

nidhs@ what you doing for sat nite??

Another working sat

Just came back from a shoot with ET Now...it was fun tho, 'coz I got to lower down the roof like 6 times and then bring it back again....and getting to do this in a red 911...good fun....I think sports cars look great in bright colors like red, yellow and even orange...tho I wont mind one in fuschia pink (yes I know thats a color)

Wife is back....tho very tired...but not 'coz of the flight....'coz she got up at 7am in the morning and took the maid's class....A resignation is in the pipeline...I wont steal her thunder and she can tell you guys about how her trip was.

K aajkal aise bohat se nek kaam karta hai....since its K its not restricted to girls only....yes he gets senti sometimes...and Mili it is cool....not all women know him as well as u do ;-)

Weekend seems to be disapp by the second...though we seem to be having a consensus on the dancing tonight....most prob it will be Howzzat at ggn....Divya had recommended it long time back but somehow we nev went there....as K put it, since we are a nuclear family now it might be easy to decide on a place...but like all other things, its not final till we dont return from Howzzat

Kal CG-6 also called K....his dog has become a father...so plz join me in congratulating the dog...

The new movies which released today - Luck, Night at the Museum, have got terrible reviews....I dont judge them by reviews only but the story sounds crap...I think the next must watch will be Kaminey...aug 14th it releases in India

Now going to see a new phone for wife, as suggested by the PR Manager for Nokia (she lies that she is in HR) and a laptop for K as suggested by the most hardworking HP employee....ta guys....have a nice wkend...

I am glad you enjoyed the commencement speech. Even President Cowen's speech was impressive but I would not want to bore you with that one. I loved her impromptu dance gig at the end..tht was cute

Kaushal@ I wasnt bragging about my speakers. I was sharing news :)
tum padhai karne jaa rahe ho...renouncement ke liye nahi jaa rahe ho..tv nahi dekhoge kya?? why are u selling all that, though ur IMT zamane ka laptop has to go..woh toh ghar ke bahar bhi rakh doge toh pata nahi koi le kar jayega kee nahi...
I also heard you getting senti about leaving..not cool kaushal and definitely not you..

and I thought diba's partner in dance was Mamu..they both dance pretty well together..

a week into the gym and walking even a step is a pain. each part of my body is screaming..played a very good badminton game yest..

friday is such a gud day..al I can think of is how late I can sleep in on saturday morning.. That is if my professor does not have weekend stuff for me to do..Why does she work so hard and make me work like that too :(

As I say get into beds..its sat morning for u guys tmw..get up late..have a complete lazed out sunday..have fun guys today evening n click a few pictures...

sat evng plan looks doubtful. with diba's dancing partener (bob) not in town, i think we'll end up sitting at home, havng beer over cape town gossip and some sports discussion. mamu, please bring arsenal's last year's balance sheet along ;-)

Posting a video of 2009 Tulane Commencement...They had Ellen DeGeneres as one of the guests..This commencement was special because the Katrina class was graduating. The medical school class which came back after Katrina even though the university was in shambles...

It was a nice mix of humor and what she wanted to say on the Commencement..

I enjoyed it...

India is still a land of snake charmers

Hilarious....I am sure the firangs have enjoyed reading this and sent it to the entire world....and the Indians on the other hand will say - This is what is so great about India....lol

A snake sneaked into the Orissa assembly and slithered close to chief minister Naveen Patnaik’s chair forcing suspension of business on Thursday.

Officials declared the House ‘‘unsafe’’ after the snake was discovered by Bhisma Nayak, an assembly staff who was dusting furniture before the start of the proceedings. Snake charmers, who were called in, couldn’t catch the reptile, which was last seen by Nayak near the CM’s chair. The assembly witnessed a high drama of a different kind after the snake went missing as mysteriously as it had appeared. Nayak, who first saw the snake below the Speaker’s podium, informed senior officials, who summoned the Snake Helpline staff. By that time the snake had slipped under Patnaik’s seat. (If Patnaik would have been in the seat, they would have said 'yeh oppn ki chaal hai')

When the helpline experts couldn’t find the reptile even at 10.30am, the start of the assembly, bhajans dedicated to Lord Shiva were played (I guess playing the nagin song will be the next option) so that the snake would come out and the MLAs could get on with business. With no success, wildlife experts and sniffer dogs arrived. But after eight hours of frantic search, blowing hot air through vacuum cleaners into possible hideouts and breaking open flooring to check pipes and electrical wires, the snake remained elusive. ‘‘It was a cobra,’’ said Bholanath Behera, (Every1 is media savvy - cobra bolne pe zyada mileage hai) another assembly staff. ‘‘When I threw a stool at it, it sprayed its hood.’’

Snake Helpline’s Subhendu Mallick said he didn’t have a clue to how the snake had disappeared. ‘‘We couldn’t find it even after hours of search,’’ he said. ‘‘In my 21 years as an MLA, such a thing has never happened,’’ said Pradip Maharathy of BJD ( as if a lot of other things have happened....its Orissa buddy...nothing happens)

Who needs Love Hotels

@Nidhi - I dont know think you use a lot of dots....but a lot of spaces :-)....and similarily I have been accused of using a lot of smileys....but what to do...just I guess smileys are the only way to avoid the risk of any1 getting upset at my weird sense of humor
Ai is the japanese restaurant by Olive...at Saket....India has not progressed that far yet....and waise bhi u dont need love hotels to rent rooms in del...why dont u ask K...he will suggest a lot of options...
The options we are considering for K's farewell are Elevate (for old times sake), Capitol(has had a renovation), Urban Pind (lots of firang babes) or Hard Rock (latest joint).....But as usual we will not have a final place till sat evening....and its just the 5 of us....Vid,K,Mamgains and me...minks and bobby are going to bhopal...
The Nano is nice...but defi not worth 2L for the top end....I mean the journos who have driven it say it is quite a nice car....and the traffic will never improve in del...abhi it rained for 15 mins and its a mess already

in anyone is interested

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_hotel

DOTS

i just realised i use a lot of DOTS..... and again

goodnight
again the biggest ques... where are the others.... from the new batch of 2009 only mili is the active member....

congrats on getting the money AB...

with the nano and the lower interest rates.. i can only imagine whats going to happen to delhi roads... they were a pain to drive before... it only gets worse....

how is the nano...any feedback on it... seems like a cutie.....

and ya thanks...the movie was love aaj kal.... will chk the kaminey song....

and Mili i agree with you... lets see how active kosal is from Ooty....

and a dance farewell party for kaushal.... nice.... where @...

hows ai-the love hotel...heard tons abt it.... is it like tabula or diff concept....

FYI incase some ppl dont know- for all ... in japan... you can rent rooms for few hours.. also they are extremely decorative( so i hear) with all the necessary things required..with differnt concepts...and all popularly called "love Hotels"
ai- the word means love

and for some ppl here.. its a passtime to stand outside the love hotels entrance and actually see people getting out and giving them the looks.... waise hi yahaan ke log cant see you in the eye...upar se u give them the look , you can imagine how they wud feel....

anyway... as mili says....sleep well... tokyo day is over..

sayonara...

Waqat se pehle khushiyaan

This time toh the monsoon is more of cloudscreen than rains....every time I think it will rain, its a bloody dust storm with 2 min showers which increases the humidity even more....this time del will have just two seasons, 10 months of summer and 2 months of winter.

The rest of the country seems to be having an overkill.....Mumbai is on its way to becoming Cherapunji, Kerala has reached a near floods situation and even other south/west states have got good rain....the only answer is global warming I guess ;-)

I have some good news btw....have finally got the money for my car.....thanks to the untiring efforts of my wife....with support from K....even with her doing the running around, the entire experience has been such that I may not ever buy a car again.

BTW any1 else thinking of buying a car, this could be a good time....SBI has lowered the interest rates to 8% p.a for the first year and 9,10% for the each consecutive years....which is a good 4.5-5% lower than the mkt rates....

Since this is K's last weekend in Delhi, we might go dancing on Saturday....the rest of u who want to join, plz book your flights asap ;-)....K is v senti these days about leaving del tho....I think it is the uncertainity of the city which he will miss....u know so many if's and butt's every day

I think CG-6 is a good name for him....more so 'coz the song also has ' poore raipur se alag hai saiyyan ji ki shaan'.....CG-6 is planing a trip to kullu and manali from the 1st...so he might be in del on 31st and spend some quality time with K....altho he has changed completely after marriage...doesnt answer calls or even return them....and when he does, apparently gets cross connections and is yelled at by very very rude people

Getting back to work now....last couple of hours in the day

Mili's post

I think Mili wanted to publish this as a post but did it in the comments section....and as you can see the firang name dropping has started ;-)....Ma'm we also get A L speakers here and all of Uncle's laptops have it :-p

Yaar main kya karun...sleep well comes naturally when all you guys are tucked cozily into your beds and I am bham! dumped in the middle of work. BTW I thought your wife was back..saw her update today afternoon..
U bet online radios are good. I can recommend so many of them but the most hilarious are the houston or new york channels that play hindi songs with the RJs having a funny accent that can neither be classified as American or Desi..its the ABCD accent I guess..
Kaushal is a pessimist..Let me see how much he writes when he gets busy in classes in Ooty..I had a good work out at the gym today..cooked mushroom matar for dinner and was watching garam masala's funny scenes on you tube..
I did see hangover almost a fortnight back and it was gud..My frends saw Ice Age III. They said it was fun though the theatre we went to wasnt showing 3D but still they decided to watch it..Me on the other hand havent even seen Ice Age I and II :)

Whats the training all about??So now you have a great day while I go to sleep :)

Oh by the way I love that "nagin" background score on one of the new songs..wat is it called?Twist I guess and sounds super on my brand new Altec Lansing speakers that I bought with a woofer to pamper myself :)

Its a great buy and Hussainpuri's "kadi saadi gali aaya karo" sounds so awesum on it on full volume..This if nothing else should get a comment from "connoiseur" of Punjabi music :)
This seems to be a good morning....starting the day by reading so many posts helps in a busy day I think...esp when one has to be in training.

@K - Hahahaha....must say thats a typically Kaushal way of getting the ball rolling ;-)....and I do agree with some parts...
1) diba & Mamu (busy with work) - they can spend some time on wkends....
2) minku & bobby - True, unless they prove u wrong
3) shivangni - GC will type for her
4) aastha - Has her own laptop with the pic of a sad car...told her to get Porsche wallpapers ;-)
5) varsha - Hahahahahahaha, maybe she can write when he is busy interrogating ball boys on what they have stolen
6) julia - (busy with recipe books and internet radio) True again but she has already proved u wrong

@Mili - Good to see you writing.....Please dont end all ur notes with Sleep well...I read it first thing in the morning and belv me working becomes even more tough....waise bhi Mrs is out of town and subah uthna is a challenge....
And India TV is worse than that....but they do have competition now from News 24, Star News, Aaj Tak....yesterday one of the channels described the sun as 'Kata hua seb'...and Star News was running ' Ponga panditon ka bhaanda foota'....

@ Nidhi - I think the song that ur talking about is from Love aaj kal....Kaminey ka killer song is "Dhan Te Nan"....awesome lyrics and sung very well....I am sure K will disagree for the sake of disagreeing....
Online radio is indeed good fun....I have some people in office you listen to SA's radios and the english songs they play are much better than ours....bas beech beech mein, "aaskhdtadjvfgkcvsfvhlsvfsdvfysdf" type ke ad aate rehte hain

On the new movies front, I think Hangover is a good one....Divya and mamu saw it and liked it...Harry Potter ka review not so good, by the die hard fans like my wife and bro....Luck releases this week, but not very hopeful about it

Time to get into training....maybe I will come out wiser on Porsches.....Ta

oho..
so much activity since I last logged in and when was that? just yesterday :)
well as far as the shopping goes, I see no reason why women and MEN should not shop. And no such luck with the eclipse for obvious reasons but there are some nice people still out there who post pictures (thanks Anubhav)..

Was India TV always like that?? I was amazed when a friend's update on facebook read "aaj Michael Jackson ke mahal mein unki naukrani ne MJ ke bhoot ko unki favourite jacket almari mein se nikalte hue dekha" lol

Kaushal I am waiting to see what "masala" you have to offer..and oh yeah I am completely with Nidhi on internet radio..Pls people achay naye gaanon ka review de dena..as far as cooking goes, no way..ro dho kar jo ban jaaye.who has the time? BTW a frend of mine had organised the langar at the gurudwara sahib last sunday and I made 100 fulkas all alone :) it was fun. The guys wont understand but the gals would know what it is to make 100 + fulkas..And the aunties in the gurudwara are in love with me..Next I know they will ask me to marry meri behan kee taayi ke nanaan ka beta :)

The day started with a 2 hour long meeting which refused to finish, and when in the middle of the meeting they say " I'm sooooooooooo excited about xyz I look around if I can see the excitement too". Now back to work. The faculty is all away for summer vacation. Its so dead here in the department.

Any new movies you guys watched that you can recommend?

For now I found my hands on the entire Mirza Ghalib DVD so watching that. Proudly finished all 6 seasons of Lost last week. Can't wait for Season 7.

Sleep well People..

Tk Cr

ani_kaushal@yahoo.co.uk ..................... recession mein bhi tu laptop pe discount maang raha hai.....m looking for a 8x4 commercial space for you.....the glowsign will read..."passport size photo--Rs.20/- for 30 copies, only in 15 mins"......good to see the ball rolling though

hello hello

thanks anubhav for the updates....i see no reason for any of us not to shop.... there has to be someway to get the economy back into business ( i need my job is a reason enough) so all the shoppers out there...freak out...;)

and kaushal.... time will tell.... abhi toh aap free hain... once youre back to school...and busy flirting with many ppl there...im sure you will not have the time to update us mere mortals abt life in Ooty.....

and yes.. where are the others.... come on atleast one msg from everyone should be there...( minimum )and then we can try and get more....

hope all of you enjoyed seeing the eclipse.... ( those who thought it would be interested). In Tokyo it was way too cloudy so i couldn't see it.. but somehow Akshay was lucky enough to get a view...

and yes.... me as kaushal puts it am busy with cooking.... and enjoying the 'ahun ahun' song from Kaminey....

any more recommendations of songs....
woohooo...... finally with the efforts of julia and AB ( and supported by mili, deva n mamu) the blog has come out from the dead. but i really doubt it'll be alive for long, though AB is doing his bit to keep it afloat for the time being. some of the us who are never gonna write are:
1) diba (busy with work)
2) mamu ( "its a great idea but i wont be able to access it from my office")
3) minku (kya chutiyapa hai, its too childish)
4) bobby (its boring)
5) shivangni (banging fingers on keyboard is not recommended in this state)
6) aastha (recession-peerit deva takes away the laptop to office and works tilll late)
7) varsha ( busy taking care of chhatisgarh no. 6)
8) julia (busy with recipe books and internet radio)
though, that still leave about 9 of us who can write but facebooking se junta ko time kahan hai. im hoping for the best, though.
PS: mili, dont worry. i'll give u enough masala now to grill me ;-)

Recession brings in a new look

Shopping is to women what drinking is to men.....they shop when happy or sad :-)

I know reading long articles can get boring on the blog...so I am just leaving a teaser with the link

Despite the recession, women who read glossy magazines are still buying designer fashion, but they want it to look like crumpled cast-offs
Shopping by numbers
• 72% of glossy magazine readers are still buying designer fashion, the survey found, while 59% are buying more or the same amount of clothes as pre-recession.
• 60% are buying more or the same amount of designer shoes, and 52% are doing the same with bags.
• 53% of women say it's important to stay fashionable despite the recession;
• 64% are visiting hair salons and 56% are visiting beauty salons at least as often as they were before the downturn.
• 58% are eating out at least as often as they were pre-recession.

Solar Eclipse pics

Heylo pplz....just thought you guys might want to see these pics....brilliant solar eclipse....one of a kind which wont occur again in our lifetime....next is scheduled for 2132

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshowpics/4805735.cms

As usual our astrologers have had their moment of eclipse....some have predicted a great war, some say harmless spectacle and some have focussed on its on impact on individual rashis....did any1 see India TV...I am sure they are running sthg like 'Kya vinaashkaal laayega yeh surya grehan - dekhiya India TV spl aaj raat 9pm" or maybe "Aapki raashi ko bhi lag sakta grehan - Raashifal special on India TV"....that channel is the one to watch when there is nothing on TV....so much fun.

I must say this seems like a gud idea..I was up last night for two hours just reading your old posts...and could almost see some of you the way you laugh or crack a joke..it was fun...
Anirudh proved to be quite a disappointment for I hardly read a couple of posts by him..and I was "keenly" reading stuff so that I could grill him but what a bore :)
Looking forward to more stuff..
tk care guys..sleep well..I have a long day ahead with a lot of research to be done for a certain professor of mine..
Mili

Have times changed

Heylo pplz....I dont know how many of us will regularly post but I srsly hope that everyone visits this once....the archives are just too much fun to read

I am quite happy to see that even though its been three long years since we last came to this blog, things are more or less the same. While all of us have moved ahead in life, professionally and personally, even then we were planning long weekend trips (and failing), trying to keep in touch while being stuck at work(and failing), planning to meet over the wkend inspite of being in the same city (and failing) and we are still trying to do that.

Given that now our geographical spread has increased from the naxal hit areas of Chattisgarh to the sky scrapers of Tokyo, from the ghats in Pune to the intellectual classrooms in New Orleans and from the condos of Gurgaon to the powerless CR Park I think this will be a fantastic medium for all of us.

So lets write in whenever we can...and pls lets learn from last time and make no plans here ;-)

Coming Back to Life.....as it used to be

Hello fellas.....after a slight glitch and with due help from Mr. Anubhav (PORSCHE) Sharma m able to post my 1st blog after 3 yrs and 3rd in the history of this blog....nevertheless felt really good to see what used to be.....hoping to actively contribute/exchange from now on.....(without failing).....as has been reiterated by anubhav more than the number of times we have failed.....
Would be really nice if each one of us can try as much to keep in touch through this medium..
