Its the same here Mili

I just read that NY and London are celeb Diwali in a big way...I'm sure it is a policital move and no1 cares about the feeling...Obama's pic with folded hands and the Queen's pic with a Bhangra group has been all over...

But seriously Diwali, and most of our festivals, are only meant for smaller towns...not people producing machines like metros...yahan par there is just no connect,no feeling...and problems like traffic, kill whatever joy is left....I mean how can you expect anyone to be happy if he/she spends 2 hours to travel 10 kms...its just insane.

Mili,I know what you mean though about being home at Diwali....it always is special...last night only we were remembering the excitement of getting ready early morning, dragging dad to buy crackers, then buying sweets and waiting for the evening so that puja is over jaldi so we can go to each friends house....it was good fun...and like all other things, time has changed this also...now we are against crackers 'coz they are harmful to the earth, sweets are not good for health and for who are not with their family, puja is a formality and most friends are busy...well,such is life and all we can do is try and not give in to the laziness/indifference which the current generation seems to embracing...its not cool ye know ;-)

So cheer pp Mili...ethg can be as good/bad as we make it...we'll try make it up for you when u r in India :-)
